How to get there

* To get to Charmouth from London takes about three and a half hours by car along the A303 to Chard, then Axminster - Charmouth. As you go down Higher Sea Lane, Charmouth,

the road swings to the right. At this point take the track to your left marked 'footpath to the beach'. Take this track,the house is third on the right. Post code DT66SE.

* There is also a train service from Waterloo Station in London to Axminster, six miles from the cottage, from where there is a taxi service. (www.southwesttrains.co.uk)

* Exeter Airport is about an hour away by car or taxi. Flybe (Flybe.com) is a cheap airline to choose and has many routes throughout the British Isles and Europe.

* There is a bus service from Exeter, which goes through Charmouth. The one to catch is the X53 service, which offers spectacular views along the coast road. It costs £6 per adult and £4.50 per child for unlimited travel per day.

* There is also a train service (www.southwesttrains.co.uk) from Exeter to Axminster. The journey from Axminster to the cottage by taxi takes about 15 minutes.

* Or you can hire a car at Exeter Airport. Avis offers a service from there (www.avis.co.uk).
