How to get there

Lisbon To Cascais
Cascais is 30km to the west of central Lisbon and both are situated on the northern side of the Rio Tejo Estuary. There is excellent rail and bus services between Lisbon and Cascais but the railway is the recommended means of travel. The bus services have longer journey times and the main bus station is not conveniently located for most tourists based in the downtown area of Lisbon.
Lisbon To Cascais By Train
The Lisbon - Cascais railway is a short regional line that extends the length of the Lisbon coastline and terminates in central Cascais. In Lisbon the train departs from the Cais do Sodre train station. The station is connected to the green metro line by the Cais do Sore metro station and is the final metro station on the line. The Cascais railway does stop at the popular tourist districts of Belém and the docks of Alcântara-Mar but train departures are less frequent.

The Cascais train service is operated by CP and the journey from Cais do Sodre to Cascais requires a 4 zone fare. The 4 zone fare costs €2.15 for an adult single, €1.10 for a child, €6.45 for a 24 hour ticket or €19.35 for a 10 trip ticket. A return ticket between Lisbon and Cascais requires two singles and costs €4.30. An additional charge of €0.50 is required to purchase the Viva Viagem card to which the train ticket is charged to and this card can be reused. As this a regional train service tickets cannot pre booked and are purchased on the day of travel.

Tickets must be purchased before boarding the train and a ticket inspector will ask for your ticket during the journey. The train journey takes 30-40 minutes depending on the number of stops. During daylight hours there is a service in each direction every 20 minutes. The last trains of the night depart from both Cascais and Lisbon at 0:30am, 1:00am and 1:30am

Getting around

The best way to see the surrounding areas is hiring a rental car to pick up at the airport; alternatively buses are available for day trips and regular bus routes also take you to most destinations. There is abus stop just outside the resort gates. Visiting Lisbon is easy, with the commuter train, a pleasant s 25 min ride with lovely views of the coast. Rental bike and scooters are also available if you prefer a different experience.
