Getting around

Rufus cottage is an old railway cottage at Ashurst New Forest station, so travel by train is easy. Local stations such as Beaulieu Road, Brockenhurst (to Lymington), Christchurch, Bournemouth etc. are really easy. As is access to London, or Winchester. There is also a bus stop on the main road. This is on the Blue Star route 6 which calls at Southampton, Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Lymington. In the summertime the open top bus stops here. Ferries at Southampton and Lymington serve the Isle of Wight. But best is a bicycle. If you don't have your own rent one from Lyndhurst. They will deliver to the cottage. For walkers you have forest access 100 yards from the cottage..
