How to get there

Reach Cortona by Train

Is possible to reach Cortona by trains very easy from the most tourist places like ROME, PISA, VENICE all you have to do is to get the the line Florence – Rome and stop at station of “Cortona-Camucia” station which is the closest to Cortona and but is served only by slow trains called “Regionali”,or the other train station of Terontola served by faster trains called “IR” Intercity. Boths stations are connected to Cortona by bus. The Terontola station is 10 km from Cortona and the Camucia station is 4 km from Cortona. The train schedules can be obtained from the official timetable of the “Treni Italia” website.

Just outside of the trains station of Camucia on your left you will see a bench covered where to take a bus for Cortona centre. Usually buses fall every half hours. The same from Terontola station where the bus stops is in front of the trains stations about 15 meter at your left. See the OFFICIAL TIME SCHEDULE and click the number buses references LFSU4 from the list. (last bus to Cortona is at 8pm. On Sunday is at 07.10pm)

Remember is important to buy befor you're tickets to go. You can buy at the bar of the station or at the Tabacchi shop walking 5 minutes up to the main road in front to the station. You'll find the tabacchis shop right after the first cross at you're left. (Routers feed are 1.50€ for person)

Reach Cortona by Car

The main Italian Highway called “Autostrada del Sole A1? from both directions Rome or Florence will lead you to the exit “Bettolle”. From here follow “Perugia” direction. Exit at “Cortona San Lorenzo” singe. From here follow the street signs Cortona in the road “SS71? till Camucia Town, from here climb the hill toward to Cortona direction sign.

CAR RENTAL

If you are planning to visit neighboring hill towns during your week in Cortona there is a chance to rent a Car. It is quite time consuming to take buses and trains around to hill towns. The only day trip we recommend taking the train for, is to Florence. If you plan to stay put during your week in Cortona, you do not need to have a car at all, everything you need can be found in town. There are taxis in Cortona, but they don't just roam around like in a large city such as Rome. They are mainly at the exit of the train station in Camucia, soiIf you want to get a taxi, your best way is to Call them to the numbers below.
