How to get there

From Dolgellau, follow the A496 along the Mawddach estuary to Barmouth. Just before Barmouth there is a lay-by on the left with lovely view over the estuary - well worth a stop. Continue through the town of Barmouth on the A 496 - there is a one way system - following the signs for Harlech. Along the top road between Barmouth and Dyffryn Ardudwy there are some lovely views across the bay to the Llyn peninsula. You may even catch a glimpse of Snowdon or Bardsey Island which lies off the south west tip of the Llyn. Still on the A496, as you come into the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy ,you will pass a church hall on your right and then a garage/petrol station. Further along the street is a post office/newsagents and a small playpark. Continue past a builders merchants on the left and then take the next turning on your right - quite a sharp turn going up the hill, There is the village hall and a war memorial on the corner. ** Continue up the hill and the road will bear sharp left - then take the first right in front of a row of semi-detached houses. Follow this road and you will pass some bungalows on your right and you will then see a sign for The Old Farmhouse B & B . Follow this tree lined track - as it turns to the left up a small incline you should then see a low converted farm building in front of you - this is The Bothy. There is a space to park on the right hand side.

From Harlech, again you will be following the A496 through the village, past the Ael Y Bryn Hotel on your left, after which you take the first turning on the left up the hill. Then follow directions as above from **
