How to get there

Nearest Travel Links

Airport: To Koh Samui(BKK Air or Thai Air),

far cheaper is Air Asia or Nok Air to Surat Thani airport but then a few hours travel by bus and boat

Railway: Surat Thani, but a much slower way to get here.

Ferry: Thong Sala, Koh Phangan. Haadrin Pier is OK also

FLYING HERE:

If you Fly on BKK Air or Thai Air or BKK Air (more expensive), it's a 5 minutes to Big Buddha Area Pier then 30 min boat ride to

THONGSALA on Koh Phangan.

OR: (FAR Cheaper!) Fly Nok Air or Air Asia to Surat Thani, they put you on minibus

to Don Sak Pier,(a very pretty 90 minute ride thru Thai countryside) and longer (90 minute) but beautiful boat ride to Koh Phangan...

-------------------------------------

IF YOU HAVE A CAR OR MOTORBIKE WITH YOU:, You can bring it with you to Phangan by taking the Raja Ferry, which like Lompraya

and Sea Tran, leaves from Don Sak area piers and takes you to town of Thongsala on Koh Phangan.

--------------------------------------

Our house is 15 minute (200 baht- $6) from taxi ride from THONGSALA PIER, they pier we recommend you go to.

(If you go to Haadrin Pier, on the older Haadrin Queen ferry ride is 30 minutes longer)

Tell the taxi you want to go to "SUNSET HILL RESORT" in SRI THANU,

Be sure they take you UP THE HILL, and not be lazy and leave you at the bottom! :-)

ON THE WAY UP THE HILL TO SUNSET HILL RESORT, IMMEDIATELY to right (AS YOU COME UP HILL IS THE HOUSE . YOU CAN SEE THE SWIMMING POOL IF YOU GO PAST IT.

IT IS BEFORE SUNSET HILL ONLY A MINUTES DRIVE UP THE HILL

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE ON FERRIES:

From SAMUI, 3 companies leave from 4 different piers! You can take ANY,

but it''s quicker to go to THONG SALA and NOT Haadrin, which is 30 minuts further

away.

Shuttles leave right from the Samui Airport- a VERY cute, flower-filled airport, and vans go cheaply (fixed price) straight to all the ferry piers.

Last boat NOT going to Haadrin is from NATHON in Samui at 5:30, but boats

leaving from near airport from Big Buddha area only go til 1:30 PM..

----------------------------------

TIMING DETAILS:

IF YOU ARRIVE 1:30-6 PM, you CAN take Haadrin Queen (to Haadrin Pier)

at 2, 4 and 6:30 and take Taxi from there, it's an extra half hour and 1-2 pounds,

and VERY pretty, if steep van ride.

If you arrive after 5:30 PM, MANY small cheap hotels avail near Samui airport.

------

IF YOU FLY TO SURAT THANI:

From Surat Thani (Don Sake Pier) if you fly to Surat, last boat is RAJA FERRY

which leaves at 6PM, other boats leave every hour or two all day long

(Lompraya is name of fast boat company leaving earlier, or you can also take Sea Tran Ferry

Vans go straight from the VERY USER FRIENDLY SURT AIRORTto all the Don Sak area piers, and desks there at

can tell you best ferry to take depending on when you arrive.

Note: Hotels near Surat Airport are very limited, far more in Surat Town half an hour away.. But we recommend going

straight to Phangan instead! ;-)

-------------------------------------------------

The TRAIN FROM BKK is also an option, much slower of course, and will drop you off at Surat Thani town.

Vans or taxis from there will take you to Don Sak Pier from which you can take any ferry going to Phangan.

----------------------------------------------------

You can also take a BUS FROM BKK, and it will connect directly with a ferry taking you to Phangan.

Buses are comfortable, some VIP ones have sleeper seats...Of course,, a MUCH cheaper, but slower way to come!
