Car Ferries run from either:

- Southampton to East Cowes with Red Funnel - takes 55 minutes

- Portsmouth to Fishbourne with Wightlink - takes 40 minutes

- Lymington to Yarmouth with Wightlink - takes 35 minutes

The quickest route to Cowes for foot passengers only is the Red Funnel Red Jet service which takes 25 minutes from Southampton to West Cowes. Princes Esplanade is a 5 minute taxi ride from the Red Jet.

Cowes is divided into West and East by the river Medina. It is easy to cross over the river on the Chain Ferry known locally as the 'Floating Bridge' - you only pay for the vehicle. Or you can drive from East Cowes via Newport to West Cowes/Gurnard.
