How to get there

Most people travel to Lewis via a memorable sea crossing:

Caledonian MacBrayne (www.calmac.co.uk) operates a regular car ferry service between Ullapool and Stornoway, or alternatively they operate a shorter ferry crossing between Uig (Isle of Skye) and Tarbert (Harris).Ferry fares have decreased in recent years making them suprisingly affordable.

Travelling to Carloway by road:

Carloway is about 36km from Stornoway, and about 54km from Tarbert. Follow signs for Càrlabhagh (Carloway) on the A858. Remember to look out for the Gaelic name on road signs.

Flying to Lewis:

The only airport on the island is in Stornoway . Flybe (www.flybe.com) operate daily flights to Stornoway from Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh . Eastern Airways (www.easternairways.com) operate flights, Monday to Friday, to Stornoway from Aberdeen. On a clear day you will see stunning arial views of mainland Scotland and the island.
