Kefalonia (Cephalonia Island) is situated off the west-coast of mainland Greece (near Patras) and can be reached by ferry boat and by air. There are various ports in Italy (Bari, Ancona, Brindisi and Venice) that have connections to mainland Greece and Kefalonia directly and there are ports on mainland Greece (Patras and Kilini) that have daily services as well. In addition to this there are connections between Kefalonia and Lefkas (Lefkada), Corfu (by air), Zante and Kythera (by air).
Ferries to Kefalonia depart from Killini, a port town in western Peloponnese. These ferries arrive in Poros, the main port of Kefalonia. In the summer, there are local ferries from the port of Astakos in mainland Greece to Sami Kefalonia and Ithaca. The port of Fiscardo in northern Kefalonia also receives ferries from Vassiliki Lefkada, while the port of Pessada in southern Kefalonia operates ferries to Shinari Zakynthos. If you choose to depart from the port of Kyllini, you will arrive at the port of Poros after 1.5 hour.
There is also an international airport on the island. The International Airport of Kefalonia (Code: EFL) is located between Lassi and the village Minies, just 8km south of Argostoli. There are daily domestic flights to Athens with a flight time of about 45 minutes. During the summer months a large amount of charter flights are available. There are direct flights from the UK (approx. 2hs 45mins flying time), the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Italy and other major airports throughout Europe from May until the end of October. The Parking consists of 100 spaces and is conveniently located next to the terminal.
