How to get there

If travelling south from the A1, exit at Alnwick and join the B6341 and follow signs for Rothbury which is approximately 4 miles. Travel into the village and straight through the other side. Approx 2 miles later you will arrive in Thropton. Go over the little bridge and past The Three Wheat Heads Public House on the left hand side. Just past this there is the old Post Office and the gate to enter Sawmill Cottage is down a little lane just past this. Sawmill Cottage is the first house on the left hand side.

If travelling north on the A1, exit onto the A697 signposted Coldstream, after approx 14 miles exit onto B6341 and follow road to Rothbury, approximately four miles.

Travel into the village and straight through the other side. Approx 2 miles later you will arrive in Thropton. If travelling from the west leave A68 at Otterburn onto B6341 sign posted Rothbury, again this journey is 15 miles.
