How to get there
You can reach us by air, car or train.
The most convenient way is to arrive by car/hire car, which would also allow you to take day trips to Munich or Austria/Innsbruck. You have a private off-road parking space at Birkeneck Luxury Holiday Apartments. The truth is though, you don't necessarily need a car and everything is accessible by foot. Hertz car rentals allows one-way car hires from the airport to Schwangau and another one to take you back to the airport if that suits you.
Our nearest train station is a 25min walk in Fuessen (a 5min taxi ride).

Getting around
You can walk everywhere! You are right by the lake and the famous hiking and biking trail Via Claudia that runs past our house. We are surrounded by meadows on two sides and the thermal spa with heated indoor and outdoor pools is just across the meadow, where the village centre begins and you find everything from groceries, cheese shops, bakery/butcher as well as sports shops and bike/equipment rental plus our local brewery! Restaurants are a 2 min walk from us across the path with at least 5 options in the immediate vicinity. You can reach two further lakes by foot and even reach the castle ticket office by foot (will take you 30-45 min). Fuessen town with its medieval centre, castle and pedestrian zone is a 25m walk. Austria a 5km drive.
