How to get there
By Air:
There are several budget airlines that fly direct to the regions international airports. The nearest airport is La Rochelle (only 35 minutes), and this has flights directly from Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cork, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Glasgow, Manchester, Stansted and Southampton throughout the late spring, summer, and early autumn months.
Other airports to consider are Poitiers, Limoges, Bergerac and Bordeaux. Low cost car hire is also available from all airports.
By Rail:
For a relaxed alternative there are a variety of train routes you may wish to consider, such as the TGV to Surgeres, which is only 20minutes away
By Car:
A short ferry ride (i.e. Dover to Calais or Boulogne) followed by a 500 mile drive in France, or a longer Channel crossing (eg Portsmouth or Poole to St Malo, Cherbourg or Caen) followed by around a 220 mile drive in France - the choice is yours! Once you have chosen your crossing, we will be happy to suggest a route south to the Charente-Maritime, if required.

Getting around
With its fantastic motorways nearby it only takes just over an hour to get to the amazing city of Bordeaux and then onto the nearby vineyards of St Emillon. They will also take you North to the Medieval Town of Tours and the chateaux of the Loire Valley. Alternatively you can take a more leisurely drive through the beautiful countryside of the Charente-Martime and rolling hills of neighbouring Dordogne.
