The Isle of Mull is located in the inner hebrides 4 miles west of Oban on the Scottish mainland. You need to book your car on the ferry from Oban to Craignure or Lochaline to Fishnish through Caledonian MacBrayne.

We recommend you book well in advance as they fill up quickly during the summer. You must arrive at the ferry terminal at the latest 30mins prior to boarding or you will be placed on standby!

Oban bus and railway stations are 2mins walk from the ferry terminal. The 496 local bus service connects the ferry at Craignure to Bunessan, parked up to the left .

We suggest you stock up on provisions/petrol from one of the Supermarkets in Oban. Give yourself a good hour for this, longer during summer months for queues at checkout. There is a well stocked small Spar General Store in Bunessan.

Once you roll off the ferry from either port, take a left turn following signs for Bunessan.

Allow at least 1 hr for the drive from Craignure. If not familiar with the road and taking a leisurely pace, you can enjoy the wonderful scenery. Please pull over and allow overtaking on the single track roads.

Iona Cottage is situated approx. 1 mile north of Bunessan on the Ross of Mull, to the southwest, near the Isle of Iona.

Past the school on the right, proceed around corner, down the hill entering Bunessan, signpost for Ardtun at 30mph sign, take a right turn across the bridge, then a sharp left turn and continue straight on the road past several dwellings for approx 1 mile. You will come to a small dip in the road with 2 identical yellow houses on RHS. Just after this at a green post is a left towards the shore. Take this and Iona Cottage is 200yds in front of you, the first on the right. You will see the Fusia lined stone dyke and gate.
