How to get there

By Car we are just over 10 hours drive from Calais. To cross the Channel there is a choice of car ferry or the Eurotunnel. We would like to give you the websites for these but the holiday letting website won't let us.... Hm.

You can also get to Dunkerque (10 hours and 20 minutes drive to Bagenerès de Bigorre) from Dover. Car ferries go to Caen, Cherbourg or St Malo from Portsmouth. Cherbourg is also accessible from Poole and Roscoff from Plymouth. The car journey to Bagnerès de Bigorre from Caen takes just over 9 hours, from Cherbourg just over 10 hours, from St Malo 8 1/2 hours and from Roscoff just over 10 hours. Google ferry journeys to France to find out more.

By Plane, the three closest airports to us are at Tarbes/Lourdes, Pau and Toulouse.

Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport is only just over 21 kilometres away and a car journey takes about half an hour. Ryan Air flys here from London Stansted Airport. You can also fly to this airport from Manchester with bmibaby. Apart from that, Air France is the main airline that flies here, but there are seasonal and occasional charter flights from Great Britain. It may also be worth checking the airport website.

Pau Pyrénées Airport is only 80.5 kilometres (by toll road) from Bagnerès-de-Bigorre, and the journey by car takes an hour. Air France is the main airport that flies to Pau.

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport is 155 kilometers away and the car journey takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. Several airlines fly into Toulouse. Easy Jet from London Gatwick and Bristol; FlyBe from Birmingham, Jet2 from Belfast, Edinburgh and Leeds Bradford; British Airways from London Gatwick

Hire car is available from all of these airports. Go to their websites to find out more.

By Train, you can catch the Eurostar from London St. Pancras to Lille where you can change to the TGV heading to Toulouse The total journey time can be as little as 8.40 hours. Or you can take the Eurostar to Paris and then the TGV to Tarbes or Lourded. This will involve travelling across Paris as the Eurostar arrives at Paris Nord and the trains to Tarbes and Lourdes leave from Paris Montparnasse 1 Et 2. The journey from Paris to Tarbes is about 6 hours. For details of both journeys go to the eurostar website. From there choose Travel Information and then Timetables.

There is a bus service to Bagenères-de-Bigorre from Tarbes. Again we'd like to provide a link but can't. You'll just have to google it.
