How to get there

Villa "Electra" is located 35 Km (23miles) from Heraklion on the National road between Heraklion and the city of Rethymnon, just less than 5km before the village of Bali. The highway kilometer mark on the side of the road says 96 There is a clear sign on the left of the road marked "Okeanides Villas". Opposite the villas there is a Tavern with a sign TAVERNA XNARHS.

*Coming either from the port, or the airport of Heraklion*

The most important direction to find your way quickly to the villas, is to take the National road, with the direction to Rethymon;

*From the Airport of Heraklion to the villa*

-so when you leave the Airport area, entering into the National Road's right lane (leaving the airport, the road to the right, you will see signs 'Rethymnon', go slowly, staying on the right). When you enter the National Road, and feel the airport to be on your right shoulder, you are on the right path. First, you will pass outside Heraklion, but you will only see the city lights to your left and right, you will drive through it in less than 5 min because of your speed on the highway.

If you accidentally take the other direction, (so you feel that the Airport is on your left shoulder, as you enter the National road) it means that you are going towards Agios Nikolaos, Elounda and Sitia, which is the wrong way – you will need to turn 180 degrees on the other side, and the best way to do that is make a very careful 180 turn on the National road, by going at the right and stop, cross over and turn – but you must be extremely careful, I cannot stress this enough-watch the traffic.

Just take the right direction first time!

Read the small Km marks on the right side of the road (they are usually blue-white), which you will see as you drive; outside the airport the signs are '120', decreasing . Outside the villas it will say '96'. If you stop right there, and look to your left at 11 o' clock, you will see the entrance. Just cross the road carefully and drive to the entrance.

Please call John before you leave the Airport/Port: (0030)6996813605 his cell phone.

*From the Port of Heraklion to the villa*

The best way to find your way, is to follow the signs; any 'Rethymnon' and 'Chania' sign is good! you will soon reach the highway, and it is only a small town, so no need to get stressed, relax, if you feel you get a bit lost, ask the locals where is the National Road that goes to Rethymon (the national road to Rethymnon in Greek is: 'Ethniki Odos pros Rethymno'). As soon as you reach the National Road to Rethynmnon, you are on the clear, and just follow the instructions as specified above for directions from the Airport to the villas.

*From Chania to the Villas*

Very easy. You just find your way to the National Road, and you follow the signs for 'Rethymnon'; when you are arrive at Rethymnon, you drive past it, and you continue on the National road, pretending that you are going to Heraklion, but don't step on it, because you will only drive for about 15 minutes more until just after Balie Village. Your friend again here, is the Kilometer mark on the right of the road. Remember, you are looking for the number '96'

*Renting a car*

If they give you a 'Seat' car, for rental, please make sure you know the way the car works, i.e. how doors open and close, security locks and how to open and close the boot, and where the gas tap is and how it opens and closes. They are really strange cars, especially Seat Leon, so it may worth to have a helping hand by the car guy at the rent a car booth. Also, because the cars are quite a distance (well, 100 yards) from the airport/port arrival entrance, maybe you should pick the car first yourself and bring it down to the airport entrance, picking everyone up, instead of all of you going to pickup the car.
