From Melbourne CBD to Cheshunt

Melbourne CBD is located about 255km to the south west of Cheshunt. The shortest route from Melbourne CBD is via Citylink and the Western Ring Road (tolls apply), joining the Hume Freeway on the city's northern outskirts. Travel time is approximately 2 hours 50 minutes. From Wangaratta take the Wangaratta-Whitfield Road. Cheshunt is 55km from Wangaratta and 5km past Whitfield.

From the eastern suburbs to Whitfield & Cheshunt

An alternative route to the King Valley is via the Melba Highway (B300). From Lilydale the distance to Whitfield and Cheshunt is about 210km. Travel time is approximately 2 hours 50 minutes. This has some lovely scenery on a winding road.

From Sydney

Take the hume highway through Albury and onto Wangaratta. Then from Wangaratta take Ryley street turn off then Murdoch Road which continues into Wangaratta-Whitfield Road. Cheshunt is 55km from Wangaratta and 5km past Whitfield. About 35 minute drive to Wangaratta. Sydney is about 7 hours drive to Cheshunt.

When driving through Wangaratta you will pass the Visitor Information Centre on your left just after going through the first roundabout (100-104 Murphy Street, ph 1800 801 065; open daily).

By Air

Sydney or Melbourne International Airports.

The nearest airport providing scheduled services is in Albury, approximately 1 hour 25 minutes drive time to Cheshunt. Services from Sydney are provided by Qantaslink, Regional Express and Virgin Blue Airlines. Regional Express provides a daily service from Melbourne and Brindabella Airlines flies from Canberra Monday-Friday.

By Train

V-Line operates daily rail services from Melbourne to Wangaratta.

There are coaches from both Melbourne and Sydney.

There is also a local bus service from Wangaratta to Cheshunt 3 days per week monday, Wednesday and Friday.
