How to get there
Flying from the UK - either to Bergerac or Bordeaux, then consider hiring a car, or from Bordeaux you can get the train to Chalais and a taxi to the house.
By boat from the UK - St Malo or any of the Channel ports, it takes about 5 and a half hours to drive from St Malo or Caen. Rooscoff about 6 1/2 hours. Longer from the tunnel and Northern ports..

Getting around
There are lots of pretty towns and villages in this area whether you stay in the Charente or pop over the border to the Dordogne. Angouleme and Bergerac are within easy distance. Chalais, the nearest town has a market on Mondays while Riberac's market is Friday. The coast is about 90 minutes away, as is Bordeaux. St Emilion and its wine tasting is about an hours drive.
