Getting around
A car is probably recommended but is NOT absolutely necessary, as The Wheelhouse at Staveley is only about 1km from Staveley train station, which provides links into Windermere and easy access from across the country. There is a regular 555 bus service that goes from Lancaster, through Staveley and up through the Lakes to Keswick (and back). This calls at places such as Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere en route. So you could quite easily arrive by train and then use public transport to get around much of the Lake District and not need a car at all!
