How to get there

A Car is necessary to explore the county extensively.. though, it is possible to manage without - Harlyn Bay is on the coastal bus route, from Padstow to Newquay ..& beyond! (leave the car at base & off you go!)

Nearest motorway junction to Cornwall is at Exeter, 50 Miles.

Exit onto the A30 at J31, rather than going over to Plymouth. This central, arterial dual carriageway, A30 runs scenically down from Dartmoor, into Cornwall at Launceston and over Bodmin moor to either exit at Bodmin for Wadebridge and Padstow, or continue passed Roche before turning right, and across country to Winnards Perch roundabout (less congested route). Take the 2nd, Padstow exit and continue to St.Merryn turn off. At village crossroads, cross over to the Harlyn Road. Yellow Sands is the first property on the left as you enter the bay from this direction.

..Alternatively, from north of Exeter take the 'Atlantic Highway' - A39 route. This isn't dual carriageway all the way, but a good road especially if the main A30 is 'busy' ..the A39 leads down the North Cornish coast through Camelford and bypasses Wadebridge to the Padstow turning.. or continue to meet the Winnards Perch roundabout again (taking the right exit to Padstow). The Atlantic Highway, A39, ends at Indian Queens - where it links again to the A30 and heads down through the centre of the county. Branching off along the route for the city of Truro.. and for many a sightseeing daytrip further south and west - to Lands End!

By TRAIN to Bodmin Parkway Station 20miles (40mins drive) from Harlyn Bay; then either catch the BUS service to Padstow and onto Harlyn Bay, or take a TAXI.

FLY to NEWQUAY AIRPORT, St. Mawgan, if possible (schedules change seasonally), and take a TAXI or CAR HIRE to Harlyn Bay, 8 miles.
