Ideal for beach-lovers but with the attractive alternative of an inviting swimming pool just outside your front door, and with the more mundane holiday attractions within easy reach.
Located just 150m from Lota Beach in the Ria Formosa Nature Park and with uninterrupted beaches to the east and the west for almost 50km, this comfortable new 2-bedroom apartment is ideal for those seeking a quiet and relaxing holiday in the sun, yet within easy reach of all the major watersports, golf, tennis, top class restaurants and even a casino. The Spanish border is close by, and the enchanting city of Seville just an hour away and an absolutely essential side-trip. Should you tire of the beach, inland, this part of the Algarve is relatively under-developed, with miles and miles of undiscovered villages and locations just waiting to be explored.

The Algarve region
The region near the apartment, the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, is considered the most important sanctuary of wildlife in the Algarve. Its lagoons, marshes, channels and islets are abundant in shellfish such as cockles, clams and oysters and shelter, amongst other species, a variety of birds such as the cattle egret, the white stork, the purple gallinule, the red-crested pochard, etc. This natural reserve stretches along 60 kilometres (40 miles) and its rich ecosystem is ideal for the development of varied fauna and flora.
The interior from the coast greatly varies in its picturesque appeal due to its variety of fauna, soil and contours. In January and February the coast is painted white with almond blossom shading the many varieties of wild orchids. In March, the heady perfume of orange blossom mixes with the bloom of acacias.
Just along the coast there was nothing more than a few scattered fisherman shacks until Monte Gordo began to take shape in the 1960s, other towns along the coast then started to develop as well but taking care, particulary in the eastern coast, not to spoil the portufuese charm.
The construction of a new bridge in 1991 across the River Guadiana in the most eastern Algarve in Vila Real Santo Antonio connects Seville in Spain with the Algarve. North of Vila Real de Santo António is Castro Marim that, due to its location has played a considerable part in the history of Portugal. From the walls of the castle of Castro Marim one can see south across the flat lands that are now a nature reserve for birds and plants and is known as the Reserva Natural do Sapal.
With a spectacular beach, starting at Vila Real de Santo Antonio - and one of the safest stretches of sea on the south coast - the beach stretches along past Praia Lota and Manta Rota until almost all the way to Tavira. The beach is backed by woodlands of a tree characteristics of the Mediteranean region, the Umbrella Pine. This is the favourite habitat of the Chameleon, never easy to see as it moves slowly along branches and among shrubs.
Overlooking a lagoon along the coast to the east of Tavira is the hamlet of Fabrica and another nearby village, Cacela Velha, which had a cameo role in Portugal's 19th century civil war.
Then further back the hills of fig and almond trees and houses with dazzling whitewashed walls and distinctive chimneys decorated to resemble fine tracery of lace.
Apartment da Praia Lota – Holiday apartment in a cul-de-sac, lies quietly and close to the sea between the beaches of Manta Rota and Altura and about 50km from Faro Airport and 10km from Spain.
Apartment Praia Lota offers excellent moments of peace and tranquillity located on a privileged area, just 200mtr walk through the dunes on a stone path to the beach. Nearby you find all ameneties and a four star hotelcomplex. You can also enjoy the stunning Golf fields of the championship-style courses of Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima and the fine-looking Marina of Vila Real de Santo Antonio.
A shared (maximum 4 Families) pool just across the road invites you to spend some additional relaxing moments with your family.
This 2 bedroom Apartment on the ground floor is about 85sq. meter in size, ((the building being completed in 2004) and offers undisturbed views to the sea.. The apartment is just 200mtr. away from the sea, being separated only by sandy dunes. Amenities like a four star restaurant, a café, a supermarket are in short walking distance as well as some typical beach restaurants. The town of Manta Rota is only 1km away, so is the town of Altura.
The apartment is comfortably furnished throughout and comprises of an entrance hall with a built in cupboard and a WC and sink, a fully fitted kitchen with a washing machine, microwave oven, a gas and electrical cooker/ oven, a fridge with a freezer, iron and iron board, a table/chairs which seats up to four people and a view of the sea. The living room has a wood burning fireplace, a Television, a DVD Player and CD/Radio player, 2 sofas to snuggle in, a comfortable armchair, tables and cupboards. The living room enters into a spacious balcony which offers further seating to either relax or to dine. There is sea view from the living room and balcony as well. For the cooler months of the year the apartment has the benefit of a wood burning fireplace as well as individual marble heating in each room.
In the summertime the apartment is naturally cooled down with the constant breeze from the sea, the windows being protected with mosquito screens against unwanted insects.
The twin bedroom offers a view to the sea while you are lying in bed sipping your cup of tea. It also offers are large built in cupboard where you can comfortably store your belongings.
The second bedroom consists out of a double bed and a commode as well as chairs and lies quietly to the back, overlooking the hills of the backcountry.
The bathroom has a WC, a bidet and a bath/shower and offers another beautiful view to the coast.
