About the home

This property is located in the quiet fishermen's village of Praia da Lota, close to the environmentally protected sand dunes area of Ria Formosa. A peaceful and quiet area, it is only a short drive away from 8 golf courses including the famed Monte Rey, one of the10 best in Europe. The area has many typical restaurants (with many fish and shellfish specialties) and hosts summer folk festivities.
Winter season offers bird watching in September and October, as many migrating birds, such as pink flamingoes and cranes, stop in the area before their trip to Africa. The scenic countryside and yearlong warm weather are perfect for outdoor activities. The area is perfect for cycling and walking. The sandy beach extends for kilometers on both sides.

There is access to an indoor-outdoor large pool. It is shared but with very few other guest and feels private. The quiet, rural area is perfect for long walks and cycling. The beach is only a short 3 minute walk away. Ideal for families looking for relaxation.

The Algarve / East Algarve region

The region of East Algarve is one of the few protected areas in Portugal. The sand dunes of the Ria Formosa, bordering the property are home to migrating birds in autumn. Local fauna and flora is preserved. The weather is warm and sunny most of the year with temperature averaging 20 degrees. Close by are fishermen's villages and the historical town of Castro Marim is home to a medieval fortress. The region was once inhabited by the Moors who left some of their architecture. The nearby village of Tavira was once called the Venice of the south, and was a place where the Phoenicians reloaded fresh water.

Manta Rota has now many new restaurants offering typical cuisine, especially fish and shellfish, some of the best and freshest in Europe. Praia da Lota was once a fisherman's village and keeps today its cozy and peaceful atmosphere.
