The Paphos District
The old town of Paphos remains typically Cypriot with winding streets lined with restaurants, open-air cafes and ancient churches. It also boasts a wonderful indoor market selling a colourful selection of fruits and vegetables.
The lower and newer part of town is known as Kato Paphos and is more of a tourist area. Here you will find an endless choice of restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and a quaint little harbor offering excellent fish taverns overlooked by Paphos castle.
Interesting sites in Paphos are The Mosaics (located in Kato Paphos) where amazing mosaics have been beautifully preserved for 16 centuries in the house of Dionysus. The Tombs of the Kings (Kato Paphos) where a wide area of underground tombs were carved out of solid rock creating burial chambers for ancient nobles.
Approximately 15km east of Paphos you can see Aphrodite's Rock. This impressive landmark is where Aphrodite (Greek goddess of love) is said to have risen from the waves.
PLACES OF INTEREST TO VISIT:
Tombs of the Kings Wide area containing underground tombs carved out of solid rock dating to 4th century BC, many decorated with Doric pillars. Whether Kings were buried here or not, the magnificence of the tombs gave the locality its name.
The Mosaics of Paphos House of Dionysos, House of Theseus and the recently excavated House of Aion. Kato Paphos, near the harbour.
The amazing mosaic floors, of these 3rd century AD noblemens' villas are considered among the finest in the Eastern Mediterranean. They mostly depict scenes from Greek mythology and are beautifully executed.
Paphos Odeon A small 2nd century Odeon entirely built of well-hewn limestone blocks. It was uncovered by the Cyprus Department of Antiquities in 1973-4 and is now regularly used for musical and theatrical performances.
Paphos Castle Kato Paphos, originally built as a Byzantine fort to protect the harbour, was rebuilt by the Lusignans in the 13th century, then dismantled by the Venetians in 1570, who found themselves unable to defend it against the Ottomans, who in turn restored and strengthened it after they captured the island.
Mandria / Ayia Irini area
Mandria is a beautiful rural village on the outskirts of Paphos with its own secluded beach, shops, supermarket, bank and tavernas within walking distance. The undisturbed coastline is just 2 minutes away. Mandria has been referred to as the new residential coastline of Paphos.
Mandria village is not far from Paphos airport with access to the motorway. It is not far from two of the major golf courses on the island, Secret Valley and Aphrodite Hills where you are able to use many of the facilities such as the intercontinental hotel, tennis courts and horse riding.
The village encompasses the flavour of Cyprus as it must have been 30 years ago. The village square is small and inviting. Situated in the square are 2 tavernas, a kiosk, and a co-op bank. There is a Greek Orthodox church in the heart of the village.
Paphos town is only a 10 minute drive away with many tavernas, pubs, nightclubs, cafes, restaurants, and shops. The Aphrodite Water park is also close by which is great for families. The harbour at Paphos is a popular attraction all year round, and with good reason! Take a walk along the quay and maybe enjoy a meal at one of the fish restaurants, tavernas or cafes while taking in the superb view of the colourful fishing boats bobbing in the harbour.
The famous Aphrodite's Rock is just 10 minutes from the Villa offering spectacular scenery and an ideal spot for swimming. Best of all, after enjoying a day out, you can come back to your quiet retreat at Villa Sofia and relax.

GROUND FLOOR
ENTRANCE: The porch opens into the entrance hall which leads into the open living area. There is a tastefully decorated cloakroom on the left with WC, washbasin and mirror.
OPEN PLAN LIVING AREA: The open plan ground floor contains a kitchen, dining area and lounge. A supply of crockery with cutlery for 8 persons plus a full variety of utensils, saucepans and dishes is provided. A door provides access to the off-road parking area beside the house.
DINING ROOM & LOUNGE: The solid wood, glass top, dining table seats 8 persons comfortably. A comfortable soft-leather suite comprising a three seater, two seater and armchair makes it easy to relax in front of the TV with DVD player. A sideboard loaded with a variety of games for the family plus a selection of CD's and a radio/CD/cassette player completes the lounge area. A study recess just off the lounge area complete with writing/computer desk provides a place for you to catch up on correspondence.
FIRST FLOOR: The glass brick feature in the stairwell provides a light, airy feel to the Grecian marble stairway which leads to a landing with 4 bedrooms and a bathroom. Each bedroom is fitted with an air-conditioner which can be switched on to heating in the cooler months.
THE MASTER BEDROOM has an en suite tiled bathroom equipped with shower room, WC and pedestal washbasin. The master bedroom is equipped with: queen size bed, individual bedside tables, table lamps, dressing area with fitted wardrobes, dressing table with chair.
Patio doors lead onto the balcony which overlooks the swimming pool. The balcony is furnished with a small table and chairs allowing guests to relax in the evenings.
TWIN BEDROOMS: Each twin-bed bedroom is equipped with: bedside table, table lamp, fitted wardrobes
BATHROOM: A large bathroom with a Grecian white marble vanity unit, WC, and full size bath with shower facility is located right next to the 4 bedrooms. An immersion heater ensures there is plenty of hot water throughout your stay.
Note: Towels are provided. A mid-week towel change and house cleaning service is included. There are no extra charges for electricity, water, and air-conditioning.

The Roman steps are an attractive feature of the 8 x 4 meter swimming pool. "We found the villa great! It met our expectations and if we needed anything Julietta and Demetrious were always at hand. It is a quiet location, walking distance to local shops and tavernas in 5-10 mins. We had a car so within 10-15 mins in Kato and further a field to Coral Bay. We had great BBQs and drinks around the pool, and listerned to a selec tion of CDs. The girls enjoy the pool and able to watch DVDs (all provided). Towels provided is so great and having a washing machine and dishwasher was great.
