The Mallorca/Majorca region
Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and it does have a reputation for mass tourism and high-octane night-life. However, while it is true that Majorca is one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations, it really does offer so much more as much of the island consists of a variety of beautiful and unspoilt countryside. Staying in our beautiful villa is the perfect way to enjoy a holiday on this delightful island.
Where the mountains meet the sea you will find lovely unspoilt coves, and in the mountains themselves lie many charming towns and monasteries. Across the centre and to the south east of the island lie plains dotted with windmills, whilst olive and almond groves flourish in the rich soil. Whether you choose to enjoy the island's many tourist attractions, or to simply drink in the wonderful scenery and rich culture.
Manacor area
The Villa is situated in the east of the island, approximately 10 kms from the beaches of Porto Cristo and 20 kms of Cala Rajada area. It is 45 km. to the airport of Palma de Mallorca and 2 kms to Manacor. Porto Cristo is famous for his sandy beaches and the natural caves.
Manacor is lively, restless, accessible, rapidly growing, a great centre for sport activities, shopping, industry and culture, including art and is a commercial and industrial town and regional capital. It is surrounded by a diversity of landscapes and a countryside where large manor houses with defence towers dominate the horizon, former refuges for those fleeing Burber pirate attacks. Today several of such towers have been reconverted into establishments catering for agricultural and rural tourism.
Manacor is known to be the centre of Mallorcas pearl industry and within Manacor you will find several large factories that allow visits. Each factory gives a tour whereby you can watch the whole process of pearl manufacture. At the end you have the chance to see the showroom and purchase items of jewellery made on the premises.
