My maternal great great grandfather bought this farm in late S. Nineteenth gains that gave him several skins tanneries. At that time many things were based on leather, which was later replaced by plastic.
All these things my mother told to me, but I remember that during my childhood there was still a factory in which the skins were immersed in huge stacks of stone and then hung on ropes to dry. Over 50 years ago that disappeared today have become homes.
The house has 2 floors are Maina and Majorcan style. It was built in the middle of the last century. It has thick walls, stone facade, terraces and good orientation. There is a well with enough water to supply all the needs of the farm and use solar energy.
Meanwhile longest crossing a road that goes up to the mountain and it is a nice walk with good views. There are other trails overlooking the sea. On the roads you'll lambs and eating donkeys reed and clean farm.
One of the most beautiful tours of the farm is the way that leads to the top of one of the highest mountains in the eastern region, his name is Big Mountain, which is 333 meters high and the views from the top are spectacular. He looks around the sea from Porto Cristo to Calas de Mallorca. To complete the trip from the house to the top takes about two hours.
At approximately 11 am descending the mountain and come to drink the water hole that is located near the house.
We are located to the east of the island and only 10 minutes from the cleanest beaches of Mallorca (Cala Romantica, Cala Mandia, Cala Anguilla, etc..).
Within 15 minutes we Drac Caves - the most famous of the island - and Porto Cristo, a beautiful seaport, with shops, restaurants, entertainment, etc..
To the south, Porto Petro, another seaport, very beautiful and more peaceful than the first.
If you want to visit other places of the island really wonderful as Puerto Pollensa, Alcudia, Formentor, Valldemossa, Deia ... are just 1 hour away on average.

The Mallorca/Majorca region
Calas de Mallorca is situated at the southeast area of the municipality of Manacor. This municipality has become the most important place on the east side of the island, adquiring its position as the second most important zone in Mallorca, where many changes have gone through in the last few decades.
Manacor has always been known as the City of Furniture, but it is also known for having one of the biggest hospitals in the island and a big variety of sports facilities, from which has emerged one of the most important figures in the history of tennis, Rafa Nadal. It also has one of the largest Gothic cathedrals on the island.
Calas de Mallorca, declared a tourist town, was born in the '60s with the demand of the tourism boom in Spain and the urban planning of a larger project that was never performed in its entirety. From there arose a village that stretches along the coast from Cala Antena beach to Cala Domingos.
This picturesque spot, situated in a privileged area east of the island, is surrounded by a rural area and the Mediterranean Sea, which you can see from a spectacular promenade built atop the cliffs.
Shopping malls are in the central part of town, being close from anywhere and creating an area dominated by the commercial aspect involved a touristic town.
The beaches of Calas de Mallorca have always enjoyed a special admiration for his uncommon landscape, its white sand and turquoise waters.

The first indications of human occupation in the area go back to 2000-1200 BC. Of this period are the artificial coves as burial places (cova de s'Homonet at Son Ribot, Mitjà de ses Beies at Sa Sínia Nova, etc.), and a type of construction similar to the naveta, either isolated or grouped in villages, which were used as living spaces (sa Marineta, s'Hospitalet Vell, etc.).
Of the megalithic Talaiot culture, the most outstanding constructions are s'Hospitalet Vell, es Boc, Bellver, as well as the constructions of Bendrís, Son Sureda and Sa Gruta.
The origin of the municipality of Manacor goes back to the times before the Islamic dominance. The numerous submarine discoveries of objects found in Porto Cristo show that it was a much frequented Roman port. The remains of the basilicas of sa Carrotja and son Peretó prove the existence of well-established Christian communities.
After the invasion launched by James I of Aragon, Nuño Sánchez received from him the land of Manacor. In 1300, James II granted Manacor a statute of municipality. The Torre del Palau and the fortification of some rural houses like the Torre de ses Puntes and the Torre dels Enagistes have been preserved from the beginnings of town planning at Manacor. A native of Manacor, Simó Tort, was an outstanding character in medieval social conflicts.
Saint Vincent Ferrer came to Manacor in 1414. In 1576 was founded the convent dedicated to the saint, and after this the construction of the baroque church began. At the beginning of the following century the construction of the cloister began.
In 1879 the railroad line from Inca to Manacor was opened, and is still active, allowing trips as far as Palma de Mallorca.
About 1890 the construction of the new parish church Nostra Senyora dels Dolors began, located on the same place as the former churches. The most ancient of them had been documented in 1232 and had possibly been built upon an Arab mosque. The bell tower of the present church, an emblem of the town, measures 75 metres.
In 1897 the first factory of artificial pearls, the famous Majorica, was founded. So Manacor became the business and industrial centre of Llevant. In 1912 Manacor received the title of town.
In 1936, during the Spanish Civil War, there was an attempted landing of Republican forces in the shores of Porto Cristo that was repelled by the Nationalists.
After that events, people lived on farms untill turism began developing in the sixties.
