Notts Farm Cottage
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Fantastic location for country holidays, ideal base for exploring the beautiful Malvern Hills and the surrounding areas. Located in a quiet country lane, this detached cottage has exposed beams, comfortable furniture, and is perfect for singles, families or couples wanting to get away from it all. The cottage has been converted from a Victorian barn to a four star standard and is cosy and warm with oil central heating. Bedlinen and towels are provided. Enclosed private courtyard with table, chairs and sunshade. Plenty of off road parking.
Castlemorton is perfect for walking or cycling holidays, a great base for exploring the Malverns and the Cotswolds,or for just relaxing. There are plenty of quiet country lanes to explore as well as footpaths across neighbouring farms and further afield.
We welcome well behaved dogs. Notts Farm Cottage is very close to Castlemorton Common and four other linked commons which amount to around 1000 acres of open space over which you are welcome to walk, run or cycle. One part of the common has a football field with goalposts, which is freely available.
Cheltenham, a great town for shopping which also hosts the Blue Riband of horseracing with the Festival in March, is within a 30 minute drive and Malvern, Ledbury, Upton-upon-Severn and Tewkesbury are all within easy reach.
Who stays here? A refreshing mix of guests, from an author finishing her book, to people from all over the world, including an oil company executive from Venezuela, and people from Australia, Singapore, France and Japan. Our oldest guest was a 90 year old grandmother and one baby has been born here. One guest liked it so much that he stayed five times - in a single year. Another described it as heaven on earth.
Most people love it here and enjoy staying next to a working farm. But thankfully, not everyone gets it!

The Central England/Cotswolds region
Castlemorton is an area of outstanding natural beauty, at the foot of the stunning Malvern Hills, and a paradise for walkers, riders, and cyclists. Castlemorton Common is a huge parcel of untouched common land, and its rare fauna and flora are the reason it is a site of special scientific interest. The historic cities of Gloucester, Worcester, and Hereford are within easy reach, as are the undulating hills of the Cotswolds.
Castlemorton is an ideal base for visiting the area's many attractions, including the Three Counties Showground, which is host to a variety of shows and events throughout the year. Upton-upon-Severn is notable for its many festivals, including the annual jazz, blues, and water festivals. The Big Chill music marathon at Eastnor Castle is just a few miles away. The Malvern Hills are famed for their views and water which gushes freely from springs, and you can take the Elgar Trail, travelling in the footsteps of the great composer, or enjoy music at summer concerts in Malvern's Winter Gardens, or be entertained at the town's well regarded theatre.

Lovely location - very peaceful and rural on a very quiet country road. 7 dogs who do bark a lot whenever you are outside, but only initially. Fantastic area with lots of walks on common land. Cott… More
We are sorry these guests did not enjoy their stay in the cottage and perhaps this was partly due to their aggressive dog which growled frequently at our dogs, making them bark. We strongly deny that there are cockroaches but in an old barn conversion you can expect some cobwebs and perhaps the occasional woodlouse to emerge from the beams. We provide soap on request but find most people prefer to bring their own. It is a self catering cottage so we don't provide food or drink. We feel this review was completely unjustified but are not surprised as these guests had a supercilious air and critical stance from arrival.

"Fantastic space to holiday in, wonderful scenery"
The cottage we found is very spacious. It is alot larger than it looks in the photos!
Our children loved having the bedroom upstairs with its own bathroom!
The area is so convenient for many walks and local pubs that all allow dogs. We had wonderful meals out and also cooked at the cottage where the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need.
Sarah and Rob are fantastic hosts and extremely helpful. They even beautiful peacocks.
Fully recommend this cottage and will be back again. It is one of those places that past renters come back again and again!

My husband and I were not warned on the numerous dogs on site when booking our stay here as otherwise we would have stayed elsewhere with our 22 month old daughter. I believe there were at least eight and their barking and jumping up at our daughter scared her quite a bit. I love animals but this was too much with a small child who was unsteady on her feet and we couldn't escape them when walking from our car to the accommodation. Unfortunately the loud barking meant we could not use the outdoor area either and a couple of mornings we were woken very early.
Apart from the barking, the accommodation is in a nice location and a nice pub only a short drive away. Unfortunately the remote location meant phone signal was nil but if you want to get away from calls etc then this could be a positive.
The furnishings in the cottage were very nice and comfortable but it was a shame that something like soap could not be provided and when we arrived the bathrooms were full of Mosquitos, which was a bit off putting.
Notts Farm Cottage is on a working farm and we are sorry that our guests did not like our dogs. Most guests enjoy them and they are used to meeting people, without jumping up. They bark very little, and do not go into the cottage or the cottage courtyard. If these guests had told us of their aversion to dogs, we would have kept them in our house, as we always want our guests to enjoy their stay. Also very sorry to hear about mosquitoes in the bathroom - something we haven't seen. We used to provide soap but found most guests prefer to use their own.
Feel it is a pity that it has taken this couple more than six months to post a review, and would also like to add that we remember this couple because they left our cottage in a filthy condition.

"Cosy cottage,convivial hosts,peaceful countryside"
You would have to be a real nit-picker to find any fault with this property...........its amenities, its space, its location, its owners.........all TOPS with us. Walks in all directions from the doorstep, with the added advantage that if the footpaths were too soggy you can walk for miles down the immediate country lanes attended only by the animals in the fields, the birds in the trees .and the odd farmyard bark! Oh, and maybe a vehicle to pass you;about one per hour........ and a tractor at that. The Malverns area at its best. Then to find excellent hosteleries with real ales, good cooking, and jovial locals all within walking distance was bonus undeserved. We know that many of these reviews say "we will be goin again" well we definitely will. They aren't our relations and we haven't got shares.....but thanks a lot Sarah n Rob
