The Central England/Cotswolds region
The Cotswolds are famous for gentle hillsides, sleepy villages and for being very ‘typically English’.
There are famous cities such as Bath, beautiful towns like Cheltenham and plenty of delightful villages such as Burford and Castle Combe. Most of all, the local honey-coloured limestone, used for everything from the stone floors in the houses to the tiles on the roof, has ensured that the area has a magical uniformity of architecture.
Malmesbury, which is the oldest borough in England, is approximately 3 miles away and provides full selection of cafes, shops and restaurants as well as other amenities.
There you will see the magnificent 800 year old Norman Abbey built for the Benedictine Monastery which was founded in the 7th Century, also the lovely Market Cross. During your stay you must certainly visit the famous Abbey House Gardens that have been featured on television, and then take a stroll along the 'river walk'.
