The Dalmatia region
The Dubrovnik are is one of the most well known destination of the Dalmatian Riviera with its famous medieval walled town, but there are many other beautiful and interesting places within easy reach by boat or bus.
Lokrum island area, a UNESCO protected site, which houses the ruins of a former monastery and fort, plus a restaurant and plenty of secluded beaches, is a fifteen minute boat ride away from the Old Town harbour.
Cavtat, a picturesque village, set around a harbour, is about 50 minutes boat ride from the old harbour or 20 minute bus drive. It has lots of harbour side cafes, rocky and pebble beaches, and pleasant, waterside walks.
Elafiti islands are really a perfect getaway from city crowds. The most popular islands are Kolocep, Lopud and Šipan and are also the only inhabited islands. Daily departure from the old harbour or from Gruž harbour.
Mljet Island area is famous for its natural beauty and the west part is a National park. The park is definitely worth a trip. Daily departure from Gruž harbour.
Zaton is a village not far from Dubrovnik. It was is named after a bay of irresistible beauty in which the nobility from Dubrovnik built their summer homes. Set back from the coastline 2 km, Zaton offers safe warm sea, while a well-developed tourist offering guarantees that you will enjoy yourself.
There are several good restaurants offering local specialties , a supermarket and a post office.
Also, there is a possibility of renting kayaks, or going to organized boat trips. There is a beautiful and intersting renaissance garden (arboretum) in Trsteno, only 8 km away from Zaton.

Beautiful part of the world with friendly hosts. I was a little worried that this was not in Dubrovnik itself but I really could not praise it higher. The garden house is a little gem - in the garden of the owners But a stones throw from the water where you could eat and sunbathe. Restaurants good in walking distance and although we had a car and drove in to Dubrovnik on a couple of occasions it certainly is not necessary. Wonderfully relaxing even with a 18 year old and a 10 year old. Wifi not accessible from the accommodation but is from parts of the garden. Would advise insect repellant but the insects did not detract from this wonderful holiday. Ps had to borrow corkscrew Could not have hoped for a friendlier welcome to this part of the world

"Relaxing and enjoyable"
The house is situated in a beautiful location and is ideal for visitors that just want to relax and enjoy the scenery. We went slightly outside peak season so it was probably not as busy as going during the main Summer period. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance and a regular bus service into Dubrovnik. The owners are excellent hosts and made us very welcome. The accommodation is of a high standard and very comfortable. Whilst there are no sandy beaches in the area, there is still plenty of opportunity to swim in the clear blue Adriatic. If you are looking for somewhere to totally relax, this is an ideal location.

"Took a chance...and hit the jackpot :0)"
We were a family of four with children 16 and 9. We had a fantastic time. It was a little bit different for us as we usually have a pool rather than sea and then a beach rather than a jetty.BUT by the end everyone was a total convert. The bay is crystal clear and fantastic for swimming, rowing, kayaking and fishing!!! We had bnever been to Croatia and were a little unsure what to expect,we loved it. The welcome, people, weather etc etc. The garden house is tucked away behind the Owners B+B and was very nice indeed. All mod cons as described by the other reviewers. The Family were fantasic, ever eager to help, advise and generally make our stay more enjoyable. The two showers really helped with 3 females lol. we enjoyed walking to local restaurants and the daily walk to supermarket for bread. (Large spermarket 5 mins in the car-KONZUM). Lots of things to see and do beyond Dubrovnik and walking the walls. We even went to Bosnia for the day. Next time we will go to Montenegro as well!! Once again, great rental at a good price. A most relaxing two weeks with a lovely host family in a beautiful part of the world.

"Total relaxation, perfect location, incredible welcome - haven of tranquility"
The Garden House was a dream come true. We received the most amazing welcome and felt 'at home' from the very beginning. Nothing was too much trouble - we were made to feel so welcome by the Lonzo family - they made our holiday so special. The accommodation was outstanding - everything had been thought of in the well equipped kitchen. The rooms were airy and spotlessly clean. Guests also get free use of a rowing boat and canoe. The beautiful clear sea was just across the quiet road/track. The sea is very deep on the shore line so this is not a suitable place for young children. Location is very quiet and peaceful - ideal for older couples. There is a well stocked local shop with lovely fresh local produce - everything you need. However, if you do feel like eating out the local Dandy restaurant/bar provided good value for money (ask for their recommendation rather than use the menu - that way you get what's been freshly caught). There were other restaurants nearby but we were happy to eat in. Dubrovnik was an education - so interesting but it must be avoided between 11am and 5pm as the cruise ships are in town then - the town is heaving and very unpleasant in the heat. Best time of day to visit Dubrovnik is the evening - good restaurants and pretty good value for money. Easy to find peace and quiet a little off the beaten track. We'll definitely return and recommend without reservation.

"One of the most relaxing holidays in years!"
From the moment we arrived the Garden house the Lonzo family made us feel at home. The Garden House was clean, & well set up and well positioned to sit & relax on the bay at Zaton Mali or visit Dubrovnik. With some good restaurants within walking distance & the fishing boat coming in with their fresh fish most evenings we enjoyed delicious fresh food. * The wine's good too! Croatiia is not cheap though ( especially Dubrovnik) so avail of the BBQ facilities & the local catch.
We are very glad that you were our guests, and we really hope to see you again here!
