It is the site of a famous viking battle in 1170 when the viking ships sailed up the River Blackwater into the town. Further details indoors:
The apartment has high ceilings with long sash windows and large open fireplaces. It faces onto a private riverside garden from where one could fish or launch a small boat or canoe. The surroundings are slightly overgrown gardens playing host to an abundance of bird life.

The interior is spacious and ideal for a couple with perhaps a child or two. It is all on one level but is approached from outside by a small flight of steps and so difficult for wheelchairs.

Further details outdoors:
There are several golf courses within the surrounding area, some of which are pay and play. Maldon also offers a leisure centre together with the Victorian promenade with ornamental lake, riverside walks, amusements and other seasonal activities incuding open air plays and concerts in the Summer months. The town has plenty of original shops and supermarkets on the margins. The famous Maldon Barge Race is a wonderful opportunity to admire the original and restored sailing barges which also offer charter trips and excursions during the Summer. Other ocal places interest are numerous and easily explored by car without the need to travel very far.
