About the home

Casa Cascada is a large recently renovated Gran Cortijo (Country Mansion) nestled in the Andalucian countryside close to the white village of Villanueva de la Concepcion. Malaga airport is only 40 minutes away.

With a widesweeping view of El Torcal National Park, Casa Cascada is set in a beautiful garden, with palms,figs and olivetrees. Step out from the large open living space to the pool area, your summer livingroom under roof with a wonderful daybed for a lazy nap,gas barbecue for that juicy steak, sunlounges, diningtable etc, this is where you will be spending your vacation! Sit down and hear the river running down below the house, and the goatbells tinkle in the distance, you can not do anything but relax.

On a cloudy day, light a fire,curl up on the sofa, and watch a good movie. Modern kitchen with all new appliances and everything you need to cook from breakfast to cordon bleu dinner. After a long day in the sun, fall asleep in the fourposter or antique bed listening to the frogs croaking in the river and hear the goat bells in the distance.

Huge Living room with vaulted ceiling, yet very cosy with a sitting area with a new big L-shaped sofa full of cushions+ armchair, fireplace with insert for safety. TV and DVD player. Underfloor heating keeps you very snug. Both bedrooms have a/c cold and warm and TV and DVD player. The Fourposter (king) bedroom bath has underfloor heating. Junior Suite has a separate sitting room with 2 sofas. Complete modern kitchen, huge oven and large gas cooker, filtered drinking water. All kitchen appliances available. Nice crockery.
Lots of wardrobe space. Many homely touches all around the house, with linen and house ware of high quality.
Casa Cascada was renovated from an ancient house and finished in 2009 so everything is new and fresh!
Casa Cascada is not suitable for toddlers, bedrooms are located far away from each other and pool is not fenced.

Large built in gas-barbecue on the under cover patio by the pool, dining table for 4 people and a lovely daybed full of pillows. On the kitchen patio also an area under cover with a table and chairs, and a fountain.
Large lit pool with 4 sunlounges and drinks tables, saltwater system in the pool and fountains.
Spacious parking area for 2 cars. Area off kitchen patio for firewood etc. All patios totally private and walled,
even if the house is situated in the countryside, we still wanted to know that we could be totally private.

Further details

Although Casa Cascada is a large house, you have over 250 sqm at your disposal, it is a one family vacation home. The 2 bedrooms are each located in a wing, for total privacy. The house is not suited for toddlers, but we find that older children love it, with the river below the house and the countryside to explore.

Spacious all in one living area

The Costa del Sol region

Costa Del Sol is one of the most visited tourist areas in Spain, and yet, only half an hours drive from the coast, you are in rural Andalucia, with stunning views, bars and restaurants full of local flavor and indeed - locals. Fiestas, and celebrations all through the summer gives you the opportunity to mingle with the very friendly Spanish people, even a single phrase spoken in Spanish will include you in their large family!

Casa Cascada is situated close to the cute little white village of Villanueva de la Concepcion, only 4 km from the house, it is a very practical village with all the necessities, a supermarket, a pharmacy, banks, bars (several) restaurants, a couple of good ones..... and all the practical stuff you might need. Only half an hours drive, round the very imposing cliff of El Torcal, lies Antequera, chockerblock with buildings, and sites of interest, a real pearl, and yet, for some reason, relatively undiscovered by the crowds, maybe on their way to the grandeur of The Alhambra in Granada, only an hours drive from the house. Seville, the same, a long hour and you are there, as is Cordoba, new motorways all the way, but don't forget to turn off for the villages, sleepy pearls, where nothing much has changed amazingly enough!

Don't forget Malaga, home to the Picasso Museum, a huge fortified castle and great fun shopping in the old part of town, go down on a Saturday night and wander the narrow streets, bars, fun people, street entertainment galore, especially in the area round Plaza Merced (Picasso Museum) it is hopping and NOT to be missed. And surprisingly affordable to simply take a taxi back and forth, so you don't have to miss out on all the vino!!

You also have only 30 minutes from Casa Cascada, to the beach, with lots of beach bars, and don't forget the shopping in Plaza Mayor, a huge shopping center with outlets and a great Mercadona supermarket! You'll find lots of info at the house, in our visitor folder, about where to go and where to eat, and how to find the best shopping, the best relaxing and the most fun....

Now, El Torcal, a nature wonderland not to be missed, even for the laziest, you can drive all the way up to the visitor center, park your car and have a coffee admiring the incredible rock formations.... or don your walking shoes, and go for an unforgettable walk, all lengths of trails clearly marked. An experience, if you can manage it, is to pack a picknick, and go up for the sun rising, it is incredible and you'll never forget it..... and why not, you can sleep the rest of the day by the pool! There are lots of websites telling you all about what is going on on the Costa del Sol, and there is lots, believe me..... visit for example: http://www.andalucia.org the official tourist site for Andalucia and super for helping you with points of interest! http://www.toursbylocals.com for a really incredible experience! There are also lots of books, most of which you'll find in the house, together with binoculars, and walking sticks...... staying at Casa Cascada can be an all in holiday, from long nature walks, to Malagas wild nightlife!

The Malaga area

The Picasso Museum is of course a must, Plaza Merced, again http://www.andalucia.com/cities/malaga/picassomuseum.htm is your best friend for so much info, you'll need months! At the house, in a folder, you'll find lots of tips and handy folders for various fun places we have been, that we recommend.

Casa Cascada is situated in the countryside about 40 minutes from Malaga airport, and about 1 hour from Granada airport. Casa Cascada is close, 4 km, by Villanueva de la Concepcion, the nearest village with all services like supermarket, restaurants and bars etc.
Malaga airport is served by all the major airlines and many budget airlines. The airport also has a large number of car rental firms, as a car is necessary to stay at the house. We have been very happy using Goldcar for example,
or Record Go, for very good prices, as well as of course the major companies, Hertz, Europcar etc.
