The Crete region

Crete is the Europe’s most southern island and for most of the year is bathed in sunshine with one of Europe’s best climates and it is not surprising that it is a very popular travel and holiday destination.

The Crete people are renowned for their hospitality and a warm welcome awaits all visitors. Alfresco living is the order of the day and visitors requiring stress-free holidays will not be disappointed.

Crete is known for its beautiful scenery and rugged limestone mountains rise to over 2000 metres above sea level providing magnificent panoramic vistas. Cliffs, scars, caves and deep gorges are never far from view. Visitors have plenty of opportunities to explore the island by car walking, hiking, climbing and mountain biking.
Over thousands of years the sea and weather have carved out idyllic bays, coves and beaches and holiday makers have an incredible choice of totally secluded locations, or those offering facilities and amenities. There are many blue flag beaches throughout the island offering water skiing, sailing, wind surfing and scuba diving.
Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and this provides visitors with interesting contrasts. There is a rich history and culture to be discovered with archaeological sites spread across the island.

Makrigialos area

Bay view apartments are next to the beautiful unspoilt Lagada Beach and less than a mile away is the popular Makrigialos (long beach) ideal for couples and families with waterside bars, tavernas and restaurants. There is a long sandy blue flag beach that is shallow and ideal for smaller children to play and nearby is a picturesque harbour. This tranquil village comes alive at night with numerous tavernas and bars serving delicious food from local produce and the fish dishes are particularly recommended, but this is not an overly commercial resort and continues to provide the true flavour of Cretan life. There are around 340 days of sunshine a year so it’s not surprising that visitors return year after year.

During June Makrigialos hosts the famous Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival held at different locations around the village. The nearby towns of Lerapetra and Sitia are good for shopping and are linked by good local bus services that have very reasonable fares (Makrigialos to Lerapetra is less than 3 Euros).

On Fridays there is a street market near the harbour and boats leave each morning providing day trips to Lefki or Koufonisia.

There is a wide range of water sports available including: scuba diving, fishing, sailing etc. and other attractions are:
Diaskari beach
Remains of Roman Villa behind the church.
Minoan Villa ruins.
Walks to Cretan village and Pefki gorge
Further afield are the Water Park at Ierapetra and archaeological museum at AgiosNikolaos.

Flights are easily available from UK, Ireland and most European airports and there are a good range of budget, scheduled and chartered flights including: easyjet.com, jet2.com, olympic-airways.com and Thomas Cook.

This is a well equipped garden apartment (40m2) that is deceptively spacious providing ample storage. The apartment has a full length screen that separates the main bed from the lounge area and can comfortably accommodate 4 adults and family groups with children will be able to sleep 6.Everything you need for an enjoyable holiday is provided including linen and towels.There are 3 stools in the kitchen area and a sofa and armchair in the lounge area.

Sunbeds are provided at the pool side.The beautiful landscaped gardens have lots of seating providing spectacular views of the sea and mountain backdrop.

This was a marvellous holiday.The new apartment had everything we needed and
was high quality throughout.This is a well designed open plan apartment with
terrace providing a mountain view from the side.
Really nice Welcome Pack got us in the mood for holidaying!!
Very relaxing complex with very good care from staff and a good pool.
The sea and mountain views from the development are stunning and the nearby
idyllic beaches are a dream come true.
The apartment's information file was very helpful and helped us choose local
tavernas and places to visit.
The hospitalty of the Cretan people is a joy and everyone is so
helpful.

This was a beautiful new apartment finished to the highest standard and it had everything we needed and was an ideal location.
The pool area was so relaxing.
The landscaped gardens are really pretty and there are wonderful views of the sea and mountains.
We were well taken care of throughout our stay.
Directions to drive from the airport to the apartment were very helpful and the "Welcome Pack" was a lovely way to start our holiday.
We are definitely going to stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.
An absolutely wonderful holiday and the people of Crete are just so welcoming.
