Villa | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Our beautiful villa has a superb sunny location on this small private complex and boasts stunning scenic mountain and sea views. There is plenty of space and a large pool for children to enjoy. Parents are guaranteed to feel good too and you are sure to leave Makrigialos feeling invigorated.
Our commitment is to provide our guests with high quality self catering accommodation, a friendly accessible service and a holiday that is refreshingly different from the usual holiday 'package' or typically basic Greek accommodation. We want you to feel at home, so we have designed our villas around al fresco living with lots of balcony space and everything you need within easy reach.
Recently built, luxury, 2 bedroom villa on a gated site set around a private courtyard with a large floodlit swimming pool. Two double or twin bedded bedrooms, modern kitchen, bathroom and shower room, secluded wrap-around balconies and private roof sun terrace, and garden. A glorious blue flag beach and harbour promenade are only a five minute walk away.
There is a spacious roof terrace with sun beds, pergola and patio dining furniture,. There is a bathroom on this third floor.
Our villa is furnished to a very high contemporary standard. The bedrooms are on the ground floor and have wardrobe facilities, including safety deposit box . The first floor open plan style maximises the living space available and is complimented with a balcony to the front overlooking the pool and a large wrap around balcony to the rear, also with patio dining furniture.
Access to all levels is via a contemporary spiral staircase which has child safety gates. Air conditioning features throughout, but for the cooler winter months, there is an efficient log burner.
The villa also has use of private parking which is sheltered from the sun.

The Crete region
The whole of this South East coast boasts tiny bays and beaches to explore and inland it is like stepping back in time to discover traditional villages, offering a genorous Cretan welcome.
Excursion boats leave every hour from the harbour in Agios Nikolaos and you can also go from Elounda. There is a small entrance fee to Spinalonga and guides are available for hire. If you've read 'The Island' this is definitely worthwhile.
From Sitia take a drive to the thick palm tree-lined beach at Vai. This is the stunning beach in the 'Bounty' commercial.
Ierapetra is about a half hour drive west from Makrigialos, is the fourth largest town in Crete, and is the only major town on the south coast. Its ancient harbour, which goes back to Roman times, is still a working port. It has a traffic free promenade with seafront cafes, plenty of shops and a covered market. The local Summer festival, Kirvia, has many events focused on music, dance, theatre and art. There are boat trips to Chrissi island, a tiny picturesque uninhabited island of cedar forest with an old chapel of St. Nicholas and white sandy beaches, just 8 miles off the port of Ierapetra.
We would recommend a trip to Sitia. A typical small Mediterranean port, built around a semicircular bay with a sandy town beach. In the evening the harbour area bustles with tourists and the locals out for a stroll or heading for the many cafes and tavernas which provide mainly Greek cuisine.
A walk of about 3 miles or 5km either starting at the Koutsouras Community Park or a gate off the main road to Orino (about 6 miles or 10 km from Koutsouras. Some scrambling involved but otherwise reasonably well signposted. It is not a circular walk).
The Kapsa or Pervolakia Gorge is about 9kms from Makrigialos. Access the Gorge either by the Moni Kapsa Monestary or from the coast road. There is a small beach on the other side of the road allowing you to cool off after the heat of the gorge.
The peaceful and unhurried atmosphere of Makrigialos make it a great place to escape from the tourist crowds. The village is lively but still unspoiled, and its friendly hospitality means you will be assured of a warm welcome wherever you go! Its long sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are set against an impressive mountain backdrop. With an excellent choice of beach-front bars and tavernas set around its compact harbour area it's an ideal place to experience the culture and enjoy the climate.
Makrigialos means "long beach" and here you will find glorious stretches of sandy beach with shallow crystal clear waters that are perfect for children.
Many activities are available locally. These include tennis, mini-golf, mini quad bikes and soft play area, a range of beach sports, banana boats, water skiing, sailboat hire, adult quad bikes for road and track use, mountain bikes, motor boats, horse-riding (Ierapetra) and aqua parks (Heraklion). Wine-tasting at the Kaspa monastery is a popular outing and many of our guests have enjoyed the day boat trip from Makrigialos harbour to nearby Koufonissi island.
There are many breathtakingly beautiful walks in the area. One of our favourites is simply to stroll along the promenade past the harbour and up to the headland for amazing views over the bay.
Our luxury villa offers high quality self-catering holidays within Makrigialos itself. Do not confuse us with other complexes, e.g. Bayview, which is several kilometres outside the village. The location of our villas means that you can enjoy the fabulous panoramic views from our private roof top terraces, or watch the sunset sipping a glass of wine prior to taking a short stroll to dine at one of the many traditional restaurants that are on your doorstep.
