The Dalmatia region
Makarska Riviera is a part of Dalmatia region with town of Makarska as a center and, lot of small towns along coast like Brela, Baška Voda, Tucepi, Podgora, Igrane, Živogošce, to mention just a few of them under the mountain of Biokovo a beautiful nature park.
All these places belong to the same municipality which is proud of its tourist offer and number of guests. Its geographical position guarantees a wonderfully preserved environment (Biokovo), well-maintained beaches and a crystal-clear sea. Tourism is an activity that can now be considered a tradition, so guests may enjoy all the advantages of an excellent gastronomic offer and rest in private accommodation which has all the traits of rural Dalmatian architecture or other numerous family hotels.
The Makarska area
Makarska is a beautiful town, a port and a tourist center of a riviera that stretches over 50 km along the coast, under the mountain Biokovo. Makarska is situated by the sea and its consists of a town center built in the Mediterranean style and baroque houses, while in the modern part you can find restaurants, hotels, campsites, apartments and villas. Beaches in the town center are very beautiful, but if you want to avoid crowded places, then you can visit one of the peaceful coves nearby.
Biokovo was declared a Park of nature in 1981.and it is the highest mountain on the whole Mediterranean (1762m). So, if you are fond of trekking, you can go for walks or go for excursions and explore the area.
