The Canary Islands region

Less than 50 miles from Saharan Africa, Fuerteventura has a climate on a par with Florida and Mexico! Guaranteed year around sunshine and cooling Atlantic breezes makes Fuerteventura the ideal destination for someone looking to escape the unpredictable British climate. Easy access to miles of sandy beaches, clean, warm Atlantic water and the unique mountainous terrain that go to make Fuerteventura such a popular destination. Justifiably famous for some of the best beaches in The Canaries, Villa Bocaina is a the perfect base from which to explore. A watersports paradise, the famous north shore is a mecca for surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, canoeing, diving, snorkeling and fishing. The mountainous unspolit terrain is perfect should your preferred mode of transport be walking boots or mountain bikes.

Villa Bocaina is a 5 minute drive from the small town of Lajares, which has all amenities including local bars and restaurants, a well stocked supermarket, pharmacy and bakeries. Once the lace making centre of the island, Lajares is a typical Spanish town with a very relaxed atmosphere. The traditional sport of Canarian wrestling can be enjoyed here with a brand new arena recently built. Lajares is the epicentre of all things 'watersport' on the island and it has at least three surf shop's including the famous 'North Shore' surf shop as well as 'Magma' Kiteboarding shop, both offering hire of equipment and tuition.

There is a small traditional market on Saturday mornings, well worth a visit even if it is to enjoy the local atmosphere and a Saturday morning coffee in one of the cafes!

Just a short walk from Villa Bocaina is the small fishing village of Majanicho. Totally devoid of any commercialisation, people visit to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the bay, the extensive coastal walks and the stunning volcanic scenery. Sunrise and sunset are favourite times when the changing colours of the mountains can be breathtaking. The sheltered bay makes it ideal for fishing, swimming, and snorkelling.

"Well-equipped and maintained, spacious, great views, good place to relax."

Spotlessly clean with a bottle of bubbly to welcome us - obviously cleaned and serviced regularly. Remote location although part of large complex, and quiet during our stay. Very close to fishing village and surfing beach. On-site swimming pools and tennis courts.

Short drive to village of Lajares - interesting village with bars, restaurants, a supermarket and a couple of excellent bakeries.

Stunning scenery with huge horizons and beautiful seas. Temperature and sunshine hours a treat for us in Feb/March - but windy!

"Wonderful family holiday"

We had a wonderful time at Villa Bocaina. Despite some initial hiccups booking through the VillaRenters system, the owners of Villa Bocaina made our stay very comfortable. We received the key well in advance of travelling, and the owners were excellent at keeping in contact with us and really made us feel very welcomed. The location is excellent, within easy drive of Lajares, which has some excellent restaurants (recommend Canela Cafe) and a supermarket which has really good opening times. Also within very easy reach of El Cotillo which has a beautiful beach and lagoon, perfect for young children to swim in.

Directions to get to the house were good - it is really easy to find in the daytime, but be warned - at night there are absolutely no signs to let you know where to turn left into the complex. Very shortly after the road leading to Origo Mare, the main road out of Lajares ends very suddenly to become a dirt track. The house was superbly equipped, including making sure we had a cot and a high-chair for our 17-month old son. We made good use of both the washing machine and dishwasher, both of which were essential to have with a young family and we were very grateful to have these. The owners have pretty much thought of everything we could possibly need, including use of tennis rackets, a variety of body boards, loads of music and DVDs and plenty of linen and towels (take your own pool towels though).

We had a fantastic holiday, which was made really comfortable by the kindness and thoughtfulness of the owners. Definitely recommend.

"Perfect Peace!"

"Perfect if you're looking for peace and calm and some stunning walks"

The owners were extremely helpful and supplied us with plenty of information beforehand that proved very useful during the stay.
The villa is in a complex called Origo Mare. When we were there in May 2013 it was extremely quiet, hardly any other people around. The location is perfect to visit the Northern part of the island, especially if you are into water sports. There are plenty of amazing coastal walks through landscape that varies between volcanic plain, desert and clifftop. The local village has everything you need and there are some inexpensive restaurants in town and a well stocked supermarket.
The villa itself is well maintained, good functional kitchen and stocked with DVDs, snorkling gear and tennis rackets ( there is a good swimming pool and tennis courts right outside the villa for guests to use). The views from the balcony are amazing and the sun hits it all day, perfect for lazy reading on a sun lounger. If you're looking for a party atmosphere, I'd look elsewhere. . If you're after some peace and quiet surrounded by beautiful scenery then I would highly recommend this place. Everything on the island is a short car trip away and petrol is very cheap. Payless are a good choice for car hire as they don't charge you for more petrol than you use and you can pay cash.

"Great location very quiet /Very clean"

We would recommend this villa to out friends and family Nice and quiet but still within easy access to beaches and more lively resorts, good swimming pool on site which we had all to ourselves .Villa was lovely and clean with all the mod cons. We will definitely be returning.

Many thanks for your review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your holiday at Villa Bocaina and that you hope to return in the future. We look forward to hearing from you.

"Spectacular sea and mountain views in an oasis of calm."

A compact and bijou property offering all mod cons, and sports equipment for use on the complex. The well equipped kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine provide a hassle free holiday for those wishing to enjoy a quiet week away from the masses. The complex was almost deserted when we visited in early April.
The panoramic views from the bedrooms are stunning, looking north over the shore line it was lovely to enjoy a coffee on the balcony and watch the sun rise over the mountains. The living area faces south, and opens out onto a terrace towards the front of the property. We enjoyed a few BBQ's out here in the evenings.
Villa Bocaina is in a remote location so a car is essential, if you wish to visit some of the remote beaches a 4x4 would be best, as some of the "roads" make for a bumpy ride. Lajares, a 5 minute car ride away provides a wealth of bars and cafes to enjoy as well as a well stocked supermarket. El Cotillo and Corralejo both around 15 minutes away provide excellent beaches, bars and shops.
Fuertaventua is a quiet island, sparsely populated and laid back, Villa Bocaina provided a great base from which to explore the island. We hope to return again soon.

Many thanks for your review. We are obviously delighted that you enjoyed your stay at 'Villa Bocaina' and are considering a return in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact should you require any further information,
Kind regards,
Malcolm and Julie.
