Log cabin | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
The Lodge may at first appear a simple cabin but nothing has been left to chance in this cosy and stylish retreat. Tucked away at the end of a quiet cul de sac in a secluded corner of the garden, next to 16 acres of the Bearsted woodland trust, it is guaranteed to refresh your body and soul.
Located in one of Maidstone's oldest roads, neighbouring buildings used to provide accommodation to pilgrims on their travels to Canterbury in medieval times. Perfect for anyone looking to get away from it all and for those looking for something different, the quirky interior of the Lodge is an eclectic mix of vintage and modern. It offers a romantic hideaway, with exclusive use of the traditional cedar wood hot tub jacuzzi directly outside your door, and a mezzanine sleeping area in the double height roof where you can star watch in bed, listening to the local owls.
The fully equipped, open plan kitchen/lounge area is cosy in the winter with underfloor heating, and equally delightful in the summer when the bi-fold doors can be opened up to enjoy BBQ's on the deck. With Wifi access, as well as a flat screen smart TV, you can also keep in touch with the outside world if you really want to.
The Lodge is perfectly located for those who want a car free holiday. A short walk will take you to the ancient village green of Bearsted with its Butcher / Deli / Bakery and a choice of excellent restaurants. For those wishing to take the train, the village station provides services to the coast or to London, to give you transport choices.
5 minutes by car will get you to the award winning Leeds castle, while a 40-60 minutes drive will take you to the many beautiful historic towns of Kent including Tenterden, Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells, as well as the beautiful Kent coast line and the EuroTunnel.

The South East England region
Kent, the Garden of England, has everything from the rolling hills of the North Downs Way to the surprising solitude of the north Kent estuaries and marshes. Canterbury boasts its spectacular medieval cathedral while near Sandwich at Richborough, you can experience the early Roman settlement of Britain.
Castles such as Dover, Leeds, Hever etc as well as fishing ports and medieval towns make this corner of Britain endlessly fascinating, while the countryside provides wonderful walks and cycle rides, both coastal and inland.
Down the road in Tenterden you can visit Kent's award winning wine producers and buy a few bottles direct from the vineyard to take home.
If you need a break from 'culture' the Designer Outlet centre is 20 minutes down the road with endless opportunity to 'shop till you drop'.
The ancient village of Bearsted is like a different world, a place where cricketers still play on the green surrounded by charming houses, cottages, oast houses and inns. Some of these have special historic interest including The Limes, originally a medieval hall house, and Snowfield House, once home to Baroness Emmuska Orczy, author of "The Scarlet Pimpernel".
The Lodge is located adjacent to the Bearsted woodland trust which offers 16 acres on which to ramble, and for the more serious walkers the North Downs way is in walking distance and provides miles of paths from which to enjoy the beautiful Kent countryside on foot and bike.
And at the end of the day if you don't want to cook, you can enjoy the 2 pubs / 4 restaurants on Bearsted Green one of which has a Michelin listing. All tastes and budgets are catered for.
