The Menorca region
Menorca is a beautiful island and a registered biosphere, it has numerous beaches from small calas to long sandy beaches, and plenty of walks and cycle routes. There are lots of water sports available such as diving, wind surfing, sailing, powerboating etc.
Mahon, the capital of the Island and its principal port, is only a 15 minute drive or taxi ride from Cala Llonga. There is also a private water taxi service across the harbour, the second deepest in the world, which can be booked for crossings regularly from the Cala Llonga marina to either Mahon or the charming Cala Fonts.
Mahon itself is an interesting town which boasts a recently restored historic marketplace; a fish market; museum and various churches - the largest of which hosts regular musical fixtures and events during the season - there is also a theatre and plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants.
The Cala Llonga area is an exclusive and beautiful area on the East side of Mahon harbour. Sitting at the top of a hill, the area boasts some of the most spectacular views in the Mediterranean. The villa enjoys some incredible sunset vistas every day, all year round. Near the villa there is a beautiful beach at Cala Mesquida, with a few bars and restaurants.
The nearby Fort of La Mola, only five minutes away by car, boasts both Spanish, French, and British fortifications, and is well worth a visit and guided tour.
Boat trips around the harbour, and Boat Charters are also available; there are also many beautiful boats moored in the local marina.
There is a local supermarket which sells essentials as well as local specialties including fresh bakery and farm products, as well as a selection of English-language newspapers, they also provide a local delivery service.
