Taurus mountains to the rear and Alanya Castle and Cliffs to the East a stupendous scene at night when all lit up. The wonder of this location is the ease of access and freedom of walking to the beach, bars, and restaurants and still be only 20 mins drive away from Alanya. Most pubs and restaurants offer a free pick and drop back service or a taxi back is only a few liras because of our location. We are still private enough not to be subject to major noise but close enough for older teenagers to walk to Dolmus (bus) on their own.
Places to visit are very easy to get to on the bus, or with an arranged trip, such as Dim Cay, the Caves, Castle, Red Tower, Cleopatras beach or hop off where ever you like the look of. As there are only three main roads you will find your way around very easily. Aspendos has events regularly during the high season.
Wonderful relaxing holidays spent in your own space, private pool with everything you need and if you want to go walking or fishing, its all easy to get to so no fights amongst the family as there is something for everyone to do and very easy to meet up afterwards for a nice meal.

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
The Mediterranean Coast region
Turkey is still a hidden paradise for many. There are so many different aspects for you to discover that many visits to the Mediterranean Coast with the abundant year round sunshine and magnificent mountains offer visitors a complete getaway from the stress and routine of everyday life. Turkey has a magnificent past, and is a land full of historic and archaeological treasures. Introduce the children to the real Nike! As a holidaymaker or even thinking of retiring to this fascinating country, you will have so much to enjoy. Try before you buy may tempt you to consider retiring to this wonderful place and enjoying warmer winters and reducing your costs at home in the colder winters at home. This is why so many of what are called the new Turkish have moved here or come for extended vacations. Practice your haggling skills whilst indulging in some retail therapy in the weekly markets and the local Turkish bazaars.
Walk in the footsteps of those ancients that you have read about or seen in the movies in the many ancient sites. Listen to music in the ancient amphitheatre at Aspendos as Cleopatra might have done. This is a land full of history and archaeology with so many civilizations to explore.
Almost everything you could wish for is available, can't find it then just contact us by email. Golf, horse riding, boating and other water sports such as sailing, windsurfing and scuba diving. Jet skiing, paragliding, banana boating. Cinema, paragliding, horse riding, trekking, boat trips around the magnificent coast line to hidden coves and caves. Bouncy castles ( often free of charge) tramplolines, crazy golf, merry go rounds and roundabouts are available for little ones.
Pole fishing at the beach even deep sea fishing can be arranged. Or just relax on the beach or by the pool then wander down the beautiful boulevards and take a late swim followed by a coffee or glass of wine watching the sunset on the beach before making your way home.
Be adventurous and try the unique cuisine by eating in the many Turkish restaurants with the locals who will only be to happy to help you with the multilingual menus and encourage you to try something new. Turkish food is so fresh and every request can be accommodated. Europe and Turkish food are served in most restaurants and bars with multi lingual menus and serving staff. This is an extremely child friendly country so expect your children to be picked up by the bar/restaurant staff.
Spa Day at many of the Turkish baths is great for relaxation and preparation for the skin. Great bonding experience. You wear your swimwear. Ask around for recommendations.
Beauty treatments are available in most of the hairdressers too. Just be prepared Ladies when they ask you if you want your moustache waxed and you did not know you had one!
While some women wear the headscarf others don't and you will see older Turkish men in the traditional baggy trousers jostling for space on the dolmus with beach bound tourists. The sound of the Mosque calls out 5 times daily and you will find your days pleasantly regulated by the call to prayer. You must learn to haggle in the shops and markets as it is expected that you do not pay the first price. A good tip is to carry smaller money in you pocket so that you do not have to take out your purse at all makes it much easier to haggle with no extra money on show. Anything you want to buy is available. The Markets are wonderful and you will get some lovely items to take home.
Leather and Jewellery are the specialities in Turkey and well worth spending the money on if that is what you desire. You would be able to have a tailored leather outfit made during your vacation if you so desire but get some local recommendations.
The harbour area in Alanya is about 30 minutes away by dolmus depending on the traffic. Many clubs are located here and after they close there are coaches to take you out to disco's. This is a very lively and noisy area but great fun if that is what you want.
The Castle is certainly worth a visit for the views, but you would need to be able to walk and climb. for those who are unable to they can get a taxi or bus there and have lunch in one of the restaurants perched in the cliff edge!
Turkey takes Euro and Turkish Lira everywhere, you will find it more beneficial to change your Euro to Lira and shop around in the Exchanges to get the best price.
There are many ATM kiosks on the street.
We advise you to bring your own tea or coffee as although the supermarkets do carry a lot of European lines you may not find your favourites but then again you are on holiday so be adventurous. All the food you will buy in the butchers or at the local market is locally grown and you will have plenty of change in your purse.
Spirits can be expensive here and prices may vary so you may like to get some in the Duty Free on your way over.
Wine varies from bar to bar in cost and size of glass but since we have been coming to Turkey over 20 years, we have explained that Europeans like a glass or a bottle over the evening at a reasonable rate for a decent taste. Turkey does make its own wine and there are many varieties. Don't forget to haggle!
Children will be accommodated in bars and restaurants with no problems at all or as they say in phonetic Turkish, Problem Yuck!
Be prepared for the staff to pick up your child and entertain them as this is a very very child friendly nation. There are plenty of childrens playgrounds in the area also.
Mahmutlar beach is a 10 /15 minute walk depending on the length of your legs! It is 20 minutes by car from Alanya both located in the province of Antalya. Backed by the southern slopes of the Taurus Mountains and fronted by the Mediterranean Sea, (East Basin) it is a sub tropical climate. A magical place especially with 300 days of sunshine. Whatever time of year this is the place to walk along the 13 km long eastern beach. Stand on the 3km Cleopatra's beach, part of her dowry from Mark Anthony. (Yes that one)! Everything is here, from verdant forests, banana plantations, plentiful orange and lemon trees and such fresh organic food as you can imagine. The lakes and the waterfalls, surrounded by the historical name places that you know from school are side by side with this modern and vibrant area. This is the pleasure of the area; we are located in the old part of Mahmutlar built low on the mountainside for ease of access but close enough if you choose to engage in the modern lifestyle where foreigners are now called the new Turkish neighbours. English is taught in school here so as you like to practice your few words of Turkish they are delighted to assist you.
Here in the sparkling Mediterranean coastline it is still a wonderful place to be all year round and many come from November to March the cooler time (but still warm enough to sit out) and enjoy the area during the colder Winters at home allowing for an eclectic mix of cosmopolitan travellers and residents since ancient and before ancient times!
This Villa is located and may be accessed through the well lit secure area of My Marine Residence but looks further away on Google maps from the beach then it actually is. We are located in the old quarter of Mahmutlar and the green areas beside us are the banana plantations and further up are the forest and the Taurus Mountains.
Perched on top of the cape overseeing Alanya is the fortress built in 1200 which boasts one of the most beautiful views in the area and can be seen from our rooftop terrace especially at night when lit up.
Mahmutlar has a long beautiful beach with a backdrop of the mountains and the promenade is being extended from Alanya so you can walk as far as you like and drop into many of the beach bars who don't always charge for beds and umbrellas if you have lunch there, a few liras or a game of cards under the shade or fishing from the beach, Beach sports are numerous. We advise you to bring beach shoes as the sand can be scorching especially during high season.
Attractive well lit boulevards, paved areas, landscaped gardens, fountains and children's parks contribute to the overall character & quality of the area.
The nicest and so the most important road for your holiday is the coast road where you can get the local dolmus (bus) to Alanya (10-20mins) or to Gazipasha and beyond worth the trip just to see the view and hop off and have lunch or stroll to a different hidden beach.
Leaving Mahmutlar, you pass along the small towns of Kestel, Tosmur and Oba before you enter Alanya. You will travel on one of the most picturesque roads in the area, with the beach and the turquoise sea on one side and the impressive Taurus Mountains on the other. No wonder this area is called the Pearl of Turkey.
There are 3 main roads parallel to the sea, which makes it very easy to travel, just have your money ready (euro or lira) to hop on the bus, enter at the front and exit at the back. The Coast road is another dual carriageway from Antalya to the east of Turkey. It has a number of underpasses and pedestrian crossings to facilitate crossing and while it may initially look off putting is easily accessed and well worth it.
Barbaros Rd., is the wide inner road and here you will find the famous Mahmutlar Clock Tower at the Centrum where you will find a Post Office (PTT), and ATM machines a great variety of shops, restaurants and bars, some of them offer live music and themed nights during the summer months. Most bars/restaurants offer pick up and drop if you eating. Every Tuesday and Saturday daytime you can find an open market at the end of this road. Take the trolley from the villa because you will fill it with fresh vegetables and fruit and other things, PRACTICE YOUR HAGGLING! Older tourist shops and businesses are here and it is a busy area at night, but the whole area is now full of wonderful restaurants/bars so investigate. You will be spoilt for choice.
The harbour area in Alanya is where all the clubbers go and then on to another late night disco by bus. Most hotel discos are open to the public, the Auditorium disco at Dim Çay, Klas and the new Hollywood Nights are open until the early hours of the morning - take care here as transport is often free to go there but you may have to get taxis back.
Every year there are numerous new activities or entertainments for you, you will see them obviously advertised as you walk around, take your time before choosing and bargain, no one ever expects you to pay the first price offered! Ask for extras!

Bird watching, triathalon, sand sculpture, diving, private boating trips, picnics in the mountains what ever your group fancies or doesnt even know let us know your likes and we will advise. Remember that all local restaurants, spas etc normally offer free pick up and drop backs so you DO NOT NEED TO BOOK ANY TRIPS IN ADVANCE. We will give you a list of local reliable contacts and then you choose yourself what you would like to do. Remember we are only a free text away for advice or assistance.
