The Limousin/Auvergne region

La Rustlings is set in a beautiful wooded valley with wonderful lake views. We are set in the Haute Vienne region of the Limousin which is often referred to as the French lake district or region of 1000 lakes.

The climate of the area is very kind with this region benefiting from over 2000 hours of sunshine per year. As such outdoor activities can be enjoyed such as water sports, golf, cycling, walking, fishing or just relaxing by the pool enjoying the bird song.

With Lake Saint Pardoux so close by with its beaches and clear waters a holiday can be enjoyed by all including children.

If your idea of a holiday is to simply relax in beautiful surroundings yet with amenities close by then La Rustlings would be the obvious choice for you.

Magnac Laval

The Area of the Limousin comprises of 3 different regions the Haute Vienne (where you will find La Rustlings), the Creuse (to the North) & the Correze (to the south).

There is so much to explore from magnificent Chateaux to many historical towns. You will find many festivals and fetes throughout the region and nearby Bellac also holds an annual Jaz Festival.

Horse racing is held several times a year at Le Dorat (12km).

Children will find many exciting parks and activities such as Monkey world, Pak Bellview (theme park for younger children), a Zoo & aquarium near Limoges and even a Maze within 30 Minutes of La rustlings.

Futuroscope near Poitiers (60 mins) offers a very large scale futuristic theme park which is suitable for all ages. It is reputed to be one of the top attractions in the area not to be missed!!

The local village of Magnac Laval (5mins drive) provides a bakers, butchers, hairdressers, grocers, chemist, post office, bank and 4 bars/restaurants

Larger hypermarkets and a train station are only 20mins away in Bellac and La Souterraine. The medieval city of Limoges and its airport is just 40 mins by car.

Le Dorat (10-15 mins drive) has an important 12th century church in the Romanesque style, the Collegiale de St. Pierre and a fortified gate unique to the Limousin region. It also has an outlet store for Limoges porcelain and a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants and superstores, and of course, a weekly market.

Montmorillion (30 mins drive) is a medieval town specialising in all crafts associated with books and publishing. There are many bars/restaurants located along the River Gartempe with wonderful views.

Bessines Sur Gartempe (25 mins drive) is a pretty, popular village has a variety of commerce's including, 5 restaurants, 3 banks, 3 supermarkets, 2 bakers, butchers, wine cellar, 3 cafes, florists, doctors, vets, post office, newsagents etc. Main market day is the 11th day of each month, during the summer months there are markets on Thursday afternoon and Sunday mornings. Learn to Fly in France! (20 mins drive) with Wanafly Airsports. Flying conditions are generally much more favorable in the Haute Vienne, and the aerial views are fantastic. The cost of flying tends to be much lower too, especially if you want to learn. We have a connection with an excellent English instructor, who has a 650m runway in the back garden!

It is all about getting up close to the animals and learning about them in a fun way. There is also a small farm area, and great outdoor play area and picnic spots. Good for children of all ages. The park is open every day.

Labyrinthe Geant - Giant Maze (45 mins drive) the largest planted maze in the world! It is designed to be fun for everyone, children and adults alike. You can even try the maze at night in the summertime (Thursdays). The site also boasts enormous slides; there is a larger one for children over 12s and a 20m water slide for the under 12s.
