The Mallorca/Majorca region

The Calvia coast covers a 50km stretch from Cas Català beach on the Bay of Palma to Cala Fornells, all the way to Sant Telm, the port closest to the dramatic, lizard-shaped island of Sa Dragonera, and includes some of Mallorca's best beauty spots (deserted coves) Yet, when you stand in the tranquil, totally untouristic town of Calvia, a few kilometres inland, it seems hard to believe that this is the administrative centre for the richest municipality in Spain.

Inland and along the precipitous West coast, you can tour some of the most enjoyable mountain scenery on the island. It is in this region west of Palma, with its stark contrasts, that you can appreciate how there still remain places that are more or less untouched by outside influence.

Magaluf

There is a local beach at the foot of the headland on which the villa is located and is reached via a steep footpath suitable for the more active. The reward is a sandy cove which will most often be deserted.

Located close to numerous large and small secluded beaches.Cala Vinas is a few minutes drive away as is the beach at Cala Falco. The broad sandy beaches at Palma Nova (which has a blue flag) and Santa Ponsa have all the facilities expected of a popular resort.

A fifteen minutes drive away is Portals Vells. The tiny bay at Portals Vells is located down a pretty, country lane. The sandy beach is safe for children and rarely gets really crowded. This is where owners of yachts and power boats drop anchor during the day and come ashore to eat in the very good fish restaurant and beach bar. Walk along the south side of the cliffs to reach the Cove de la Mare de Deu The view across the bay towards Palma cathedral from here is surely one of the most splendid on the island.

Ideal base for sailing from Portals Nous (well known for sophisticated service and style), Andratx and Port Adriano. Local attractions include the Casino, two Waterparks, Marineland, Pirates Adventure, Go-karting, Tennis and riding. Golf holidays are catered for at the local championship course at Santa Ponsa – ten minutes away, Bendinat and five other local courses. The dramatic mountain scenery and countryside are within easy reach for walkers. Excellent restaurants, bars and shopping facilities.
