Country House with Private Pool Spectacular Location on Wine Estate Sleeps 8 (4 Bedrooms)
The house, swimming pool and gardens have been built and decorated with great love for detail. The building is whitewashed in soft ochre that makes it fit in with the local area and gives it an attractive traditional feel. Stone steps from the fenced in lawn behind the building lead you down to the large swimming pool (5m x 10m). Swimmers have a breathtaking view and a sensation of swimming right out into the valley, as the infinity pool overflows on the valley side.
The large, open fireplace in the sitting room is made from one large piece of pink marble. Originally planned to be an artist's studio, the sitting room has a fantastic panoramic view of the valley. From the bedrooms, French windows lead on to the Arab-style tiled terrace where cricket sound can be enjoyed at night with the odd owl's shriek. The two upstairs bedrooms both have French windows opening onto the same terrace. The attractive and practical fitted kitchen will tempt you to cook, even on holiday, using the delicious local ingredients. All the rooms have handmade terracotta tiles on the floor, simple stucco ceilings and the walls are painted in warm natural tones. The whole house is comfortable and practical, and is partly furnished with antique furniture.

The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Just 30 kilometres north of Lisbon and only 20 kilometres from the long, sandy beaches of the west coast of Portugal, guests can enjoy "the best of both worlds" of culture and relaxation. With a temperate climate of cool nights and hot days, it is a perfect location to relax.
Mafra area
The house is situated at the edge of, and belongs to, the wine estate Quinta de Sant'Ana. The picturesque village of Gradil is just down the road from the house. The village has three rstaurants, a store, a chemist and butcher.
For sightseeing, the area is at the centre of many interesting places to visit within an hours drive, including the palace in Mafra, the famous monasteries of Alcobaça and Batalha, the medieval towns of Obidos, Sintra and Tomar with there beautiful palaces, and of course all the cultural life the capital Lisbon has to offer.
In addition, there are the colourful local markets in Mafra and Malveira, the annual horse fair at Golegã, bull fights and the many local festivals are that are celebrated with passion and fervour, offering an insight into the Portuguese's unique sense of hospitality.
How to get there
Quinta de Sant'Ana is located 30 minutes north of Lisbon, in the village of Gradil. It is within easy reach of Lisbon Airport (25 minutes) and the beaches of Ericeira (20 minutes). Public transport is poor in the area, so car hire is necessary if you want to get around. Portuguese car hire is one of the cheapest in Europe! We provide easy to follow directions from the airport.

Further details outdoors: The private pool is 5m x 10m. 0,70m in shallow end and 1,90m in deep end. The lawn in front of the building is completely fenced-in so that small children and their parents can relax.
The main downstairs bedroom has French windows that open out onto the lawn. There is a shaded terrace area where guests eat out and enjoy the estate produced wine. Adjacent to the terrace is a large built-in barbecue.

* Changeover day: Change over day preferably Saturday. House ready for guests for 17h00 at the latest, usually by 15h00. Guests vacate house by 10h00. For longer stays the house is cleaned and sheets/towels changed every week.
Conditions
30% of total required as a deposit on booking, usually by transfer. Balance paid on arrival. Credit cards not accepted.
* Notes on prices: Prices are for the property per week in Euros. Long winter lets are subject to discounts. High season bookings are for a minimum of 1 week. Shorter low and mid season lets are possible. 15% discount for bookings made within 2 weeks of the arrival date.
