Things to do

Kayak on the beach

Avor Kayak is based on Maenporth beach during the holiday seasons, single and double

Kayaks can be hired out by the hour to use in the bay. Three hour tours are also available

where you would kayak along the coast. There is no need to book, just turn up with the

appropriate swimwear.

Scuba-Diving Courses are also available during the summer months on Maenporth Beach.

Surfing

Cornwall's Beaches are great for surfing most notably the North and the West

Coast. Occasionally Maenporth creates large enough waves for reasonable

surfing conditions however this is rare. If you are a keen surfer then the

Northern beaches would most probably be the best choice. Surfing lessons can

be booked at http://www.perranporthsurfschool.co.uk/surf-lessons/ . This is

Cornwall's most popular surfing beach on the north coast, wetsuits and boards

are also available to hire.

Fishing

Fishing trips run during the summer months from Falmouth harbour.

They can be booked at www.falmouthfishingtrips.co.uk/

If you go South then you will arrive at a small cove called

Woodlands beach. This is a slightly longer walk and will

take around 40 minutes to get there. It is a relatively

small and quiet beach, note there are no toilets and there

is not a cafe.

Coastal paths run both North and South of Maenporth beach.

If you go north then you can see the Ben Asdale shipwreck

from the top of the cliffs right at the end of the bay. The next

beach on the coastal path is Swan-pool. Here, there is a cafe,

mini golf and a range of sea equipment to hire out. This walk

will take around 25 mins.
