Bredwardine Hall Cottage offers that rarest of pleasures, a truly peaceful retreat in this quietest of tiny hamlets on the English Border and close to The River Wye. Leave the children and animals at home and bask in the rich history, the glorious walled courtyard garden and if a fisherman Barbel and Perch, Trout and Salmon Fishing to be found just across the road on the River Wye. Enjoy dinner at the historic Red Lion, a 17th century coaching inn just across the road (fishing and permits to be discussed here). This is a perfect place to explore The Black Mountains, The Golden Valley, Welsh Marches and the nearby Hay-on-Wye. Arthur's Stone is just up the road and is well worth a visit. Hereford with its rich history and the Mappa Mundi are an easy 25 minute drive.

Sleeps 2- 1 Family Room

The ground floor comprises a kitchen with a compact two ring electric cooker, microwave, a fridge, washing machine and plenty of work and storage space. The sitting/dining room has a sofa and chairs, dining table and chairs, a TV with DVD, a desk and an electric flame-effect fire in a pretty fireplace.

The bathroom is also on the ground floor with a bath with a shower over, handbasin and toilet.

Bedlinen and towels are provided. Electricity and central heating. This cottage is not suitable for pets. There is ample parking for two cars. Shared sunny courtyard with garden table and chairs. No children under the age of 12. Mobile reception good for some servers such as Vodafone, but can be variable on other networks.No short breaks

Rich history: Immerse yourself in the rich history of this little holiday cottage. Bredwardine Hall Cottage was built, along with the Hall in 1850 by the retiring vicar of Bredwardine in a typical Victorian style. The Hall is large and imposing with some superb specimen trees in the garden. It is mentioned in Kilvert's Diary as Francis Kilvert frequently visited the house and spent his last Christmas there.

Hay-on-Wye - town of books - Why not take a trip into Hay-on-Wye, the town of books, only 7 miles away and buy a copy of his famous books, about rural life in the late 1800's. After exploring the fascinating market town you can enjoy a glass of wine in the enclosed private courtyard, with its wisteria-clad walls and admire the beautiful roses and clematis. This cottage offers a truly 'grown-up' holiday; please note that children under 12 are not permitted to stay and please also note that this cottage is not suitable for pets- by owners personal choice.

Fish in the River Wye and explore the village of Bredwardine - Any visitors keen on fishing have found their perfect self catering holiday cottage. Just pop across the road to The Red Lion, a historic late 17th century coaching inn to obtain your fishing permit. The River Wye boasts barbel, trout and perch fishing and there are spectacular views over the river. The village is famed for its brick bridge over the river. With all this on your doorstep, not to mention the excellent footpaths through the Herefordshire and Powys countryside, Bredwardine Hall Cottage offers a beautiful base for a range of outdoor activities.
