The Madrid region
Madrid is a very interesting city to visit. Museums, live shows, historical places, gastronomy, nice people and a good weather are enough reasons to travel to one of the most excitings cities all over the world. This is a bustling city and is home to the Prado gallery (amongst many others), which houses some great works of art.
Take a trip to the Royal Palace in Madrid old town or why not hire out a rowing boat in Retiro Park. Or you can of course sit back, do some people watching and generally soak up the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the Plaza Mayor.
Madrid City area
The Salamanca district is one of the most elegant and best communicated in Madrid. Very near to Castellana Street, Avenida de América (a large avenue that crosses the city and on which you can find a train station as well as direct charter buses to the airport) and Serrano Street, with the most exclusive fashion shops. During the day it’s a very lively area due to the large number of office buildings, but at night it’s absolutely quiet and basically residential. Some of the best restaurants in town are in this district.
