About the home

This comfortable and modern one bedroom apartment in Madrid is situated on a charming street and boasts a superb location. Here you will be within a short walking distance of some of the city's most popular attractions, including the Puerta Del Sol, the Museo Del Prado and the Reina Sofia Museum. With a metro stop a mere 3 minute walk from the apartment, you will be within easy reach of many more of the city's numerous sights. You will also be able to make use of the internet connection provided, the excellently equipped kitchen, as well as ironing facilities and a TV.

This apartment is located above a bar which on the weekends may cause a minor noise disturbance. There is soundproofing between the bar and the apartment so this has not been a major problem in the past. In the case that you are a light sleeper this apartment may not be ideal for you, but otherwise we can offer this apartment for a discounted rate on the weekends!

The Madrid region

The grand metropolis of Madrid can trace its origins to the times of Arab Emir Mohamed I (852-886), who ordered the construction of a fortress on the left bank of the Manzanares river. Later it became the subject of a dispute between the Christians and Arabs until it was conquered by Alonso VI in the 11th century. At the end of the 17th century, a defensive wall was built for the protection of the new outlying areas, tracing the roads of Segovia, Toledo and Valencia. During the 18th century, under the reign of Carlos III, were designed the great arteries of the city, such as the Paseo del Prado and Paseo las Acacias.

In addition to the capital itself, there are enough places of interest within reach - Toledo, Segovia, Aranjuez, Alcala de Henares, Chinchón – all listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site.

For Spaniards who don’t live in Madrid, the capital’s weather is a source of amusement. It has, they say, a climate of extremes, as summed up by the phrase nueve meses de invierno y tres de infierno (nine months of winter and three of hell). But looking at it from the bright side you will find an absence of humidity, a piercing blue sky for much of winter, and hot, dry summer days.
