In any case the best is walk by the street, sit at the bars and enjoy the "tapas"

We stayed in the apartment on 12th January for 4 days. It is really cosy, in a very safe area, and great to come back to after a day's sightseeing. There are lots of really interesting books in the apartment to flick through and the decor is very comfortable with leather sofas and antique furniture. Antonio, the owner, was extremely helpful and gave us tips on restaurants, bars, supermarkets, etc. He was very flexible about arrival and departure which was great for us. As the blog before, the only downside was the bathroom which was down the corridor, but as it is for the exclusive use of the apartment, it really wasn't a problem. The apartment was extremely good value for money and we would not hesitate in recommending to friends and family. Thank you Antonio for a brilliant stay. |

The place consists of two main rooms, a lounge area and a bedroom, connected by two small corridors, one of which is the entrance area with a large wardrobe and the other of which forms a small kitchen. It's cosy with sloped ceilings, so may not be ideal for very tall people, but was fine for two average sized English guys. What really stood out to me was how well presented the place was. Really nice antique-looking furniture, fittings and ornaments, lots of interesting art books to flick through... very pleasant to crash in after a day hauling around town and the owner definitely has better taste than most holiday apartments I've stayed in before! A big thank you to Antonio the owner: Apart from providing some local area and restaurant info, he was also very accommodating with our arrival and departure times - we checked out in the morning but had to catch an early-evening train and Antonio let us store our bags there for the day and drop the key off as we left. The only minor downsides were that the bathroom is located down the outside corridor instead of off the apartment itself (though this wasn't any real inconvenience) and the WiFi worked in the bedroom side of the apartment but didn't reach to the lounge area. On the plus side, the bathroom came with a washer dryer which was very handy! Overall, the apartment was great and very good value for money, especially considering the area of town it's in. It's on the top floor (a nice old-fashioned caged lift ride up) so also has great natural lighting and views across the rooftops. Highly recommended! |

My friend and I stayed in this apartment back in June of this year and we were thoroughly pleased with it. Antonio was very quick and prompt in dealing with our enquiries and made the booking procees very simple and effortless. Just a simple paypal transfer for the deposit. The apartment itself is very very beautiful and decorated and furnished to a very high standard. There are alot of books and, maps and guides to help you on your way and Antonio was very kind in offering himself as a point of contact should we require anything during our stay. There is also a lift which makes access for wheelchair uses accessible. Location wise- we were also very pleased with the apartment- it was one of the main selling points for me and my friend. When you leave the apartment, if you turn right and walk down the streets to the main road- a 2-3 min walk, you will hit the main road, Paseo del Prado. From there a 10 min walk to your right and you will reach Plaza de Cibeles. If you turn left, a 5 min walk down will take you to the Plaza de Neptuno and Starbucks. From there it is just a 15 min walk upwards along the Plaza de la Cortes and the Carrera de San Jeronimo to reach the heart of Madrid, the Puerta Del Sol. You're never more than 5, maybe a 10 min walk from a Metro stop and is definitely a good place to stay if you like walking and prefer to walk everywhere like we did. Alternatively, if you want to go further out like to the Bernabeu for example, underground trains are close enough for you to not have to walk for miles before finding one. All in all, a very classy apartment in a very safe and upmarket area without the upmarket prices. Myself and my friend had no worries about coming back late to our apartment or having to walk along dodgy streets. there's also a very friendly lady from Peru in the shop next door! Will definitely look to stay here again when I go to Madrid :-) Thank you Antonio! |
