The Powys region

Corris is a delightful little former slate mining village surrounded by hills and rivers on the edge of Southern Snowdonia, just 5 miles north of Machynlleth, the market town which back in 1404 was the former seat of Owain Glyndwr and claims to be the ancient Capital on Wales.

The area is quiet and offers the opportunity to get away from the crowds even in peak holiday time.

Corris is home to the Corris Craft Centre, King Arthur's Labyrinth, The Narrow Guage Corris Railway, 2 pubs and a small shop in the Corris Instituite. .

The area offers mountains, beaches, rivers, old slate mines, museums, local crafts, good food and makes an ideal base for a holiday.

Machynlleth

The cottage is situated in southern Snowdonia and there are wonderful walks all around. The area is much quieter than northern Snowdonia making it possible to enjoy peaceful and uncrowded walks. There are ample walks from the cottage door and plenty of other walks from mountains to waterfalls to estuary walks only a short distance away. Most shops sell local maps and there are details of some suggested walks in a folder in the cottage.
