Golfo Gabella is a new lake front resort with swimming pool, bar, restaurant and from 2009 SPA and marina. It is in a wonderful position, a few steps from the lake and from several amenities (sailing school, lake promenade, supermarket, harbor, railway station, playground, beaches).
Our apartment is spacious and airy, with loads of day light making it feels really homely. It is furnished to a highest standard in a contemporary style, with a comfortable and luxury furnishing.

The Lombardy / Varese/Lake Maggiore region
Lake Maggiore is an attraction for tourists who are enticed by its mild climate guaranteeing extended holidays and lovely landscapes.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing weekend, cultural attractions or sport activities, our lake offers you all. History-packed locations such as the Borromeo Islands with their splendid Italian style gardens, Angera Castle that dates back to the XIIth century, the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, built in the twelfth century, splendid villas and the gardens of Villa Taranto in Verbania are at short distance.
But if you just can’t live without physical activity, there are a variety of sports facilities close to Vecchia Gabella. In the summer there are beautiful beaches at 5 minutes walk. All year round you can sail, windsurf and kitesurf.
Maccagno area
At the little harbor in Maccagno you can catch a boat and visit the lovely villages around Lake Maggiore. You can also reach the Borromeo Islands and Stresa or Locarno in Switzerland. There are several open air festivals during the summertime. We'll be happy to provide a full list on request.
Sport lovers will not get bored in Maccagno! You can practice all water activities during the summer (swimming, windsurfing, kitesurfing) and the winter (diving, sailing, fishing). At walking distance there are tennis courts, climbing walls, sailing club, athletic track, beach volley court, basketball court and skateboard ramps. The local mountains are great for walking excursions (Monte Lema, Monte Forcora, Monteviasco, Val Veddasca). Most of our mountains have special tracks for mountain bikes.
In the nearby Swiss Tessin region there are beautiful places to spend a day out with the childred (Monte Tamaro with its cable car and several adventure parks). Valverzasca has fantastic bathing spots in the fresh water of its river. In winter, skiers can enjoy the small ski-lift at Alpe Forcora only 30 minutes away, or travel to the well-known Swiss ski resorts of San Bernardino, Airolo and Andermatt in just over an hour. Golf lovers will find 6 prestigious courses within a range of 40 km.
There are several open air markets in the villages along the lake. The most famous one is the market of Luino that dates back to 1541. The market hosts now about 356 stalls, making it the biggest weekly market in Europe. Every Wednesday, all year round, any kind of stalls occupy the streets and main squares free of traffic and full of a colourful and animated crowd.
Fashion addicts will enjoy a daily trip by train to Milano’s Golden Triangle, where the most famous fashion shops are. If you cannot afford the Via Montenapoleone's prices, you can have a look at Foxtown, in Mendrisio, an outlet centre, where the most famous international brands offer their products at factory prices directly to the customer, with a discount from 30% to 70%. In Omegna, a little village on the other side of the lake Alessi, has its factory and outlet shop.
If you are fed up with cooking, we are happy to suggest you some good restaurants in the area and help you with the reservation! Cheeses, cold cuts, wine and honey are but a few of the delicacies of this territory, products that to this day are prepared in true artisan style according to age old traditions. Typical products are Luino’s formaggella (cheese), Laveno’s honey, Valcuvia’s caprini (fresh goat cheese), Curiglia’s goat ‘violin’, Lake Maggiore’s fish, Monate’s peaches, and Ticino’s Merlot wine.
How to get there
Easy Jet flies to Milano Malpensa (1 hour drive).
Railway station in Maccagno with connections to Milano and Switzerland (300 metres from Vecchia Gabella). Harbour in Maccagno to reach main touristic attractions on Lake Maggiore (500 metres walk from Vecchia Gabella).
Bus stop in the village centre to reach Luino or Swiss border.

Further details indoors: The flat has two possible accesses: one from the private car park on level -1 and one from the private footpath on ground level.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, oven, fridge and freezer. In the living room you can find a double sofa bed that sleeps up to two people. There is also a television with satellite.
Further details outdoors: Golfo Gabella is in a peaceful and quiet position but at the same time everything is at walking distance: the lake, the village, climbing walls, sailing club, restaurants, pizzeria, bars, shops, a little railway station, beaches, playground for children and tennis courts.
It is the ideal location for people who love the lake activities and want to spend a relaxing holiday in a small, typical Italian village.

An English-speaking representative will meet you on arrival, hand you the keys and show you the property. He/she will be available during your whole stay to answer any questions or in case of emergency.

Conditions
Booking and payment: If you would like to book our apartment, please contact us via email or telephone. We will be happy to confirm availability and price of the apartment. We can also supply more pictures and answer all your questions.
In order to confirm your reservation, you must fill up and send back our booking form with booking conditions. We also ask you to pay a non refundable deposit (50% of the total amount). The balance should be paid one month before arrival. We accept bank transfers or Paypal payments. If your date of arrival is less than a month away, you will have to pay the full amount.
Once we have received your booking form and your payment we will then send you a booking confirmation and full details of how to get to the accommodation.
Extra costs: All costs are included in the rental price except final cleaning that must be paid on site before departure.
Damage deposit: A security deposit has to be paid on arrival (€ 300 in cash). The deposit will be returned to you at the moment of departure. A deduction will be made for breakages and extra costs if not included in rental price.
Arrival and departure times: Arrivals are normally from 3 pm to 6 pm (please let us know when booking if you think you may be arriving outside these times). Guests should leave the apartment by 10 am.
