A spacious and bright open plan living and dining room provides a fabulous place to relax and entertain in style, with a colourful sitting area with wall mounted SAT flat screen TV, a stylish indoor dining area and a contemporary fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher.

Balcony doors lead directly out onto a sunny private balcony which is furnished with alfresco dining furniture and which boasts views over the resident lake view piazza with spa facilities.
The accommodation is perfect for small groups and families with 2 bedrooms. The first comprises a spacious stylish master bedroom furnished with a comfortable king size bed, and benefitting from balcony access. The second stylish bedroom comprises two single beds with a wardrobe and access outside.

A contemporary bathroom fitted with a fabulous power shower, wash basin, WC, bidet and washing machine completes this beautiful chic holiday property.

Guests can enjoy use of a private garage and also resident parking during their stay. Luxury onsite facilities include a lakefront piazza ideal for sunbathing and featuring a fabulous outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi with breathtaking panoramic lake views to take in!

A stylish onsite cafe bar restaurant is also situated to the lake view piazza making it the ideal spot for alfresco dining and socialising with an evening aperitif. The Lombardy / Varese/Lake Maggiore region

Lake Maggiore is 54 km long, with a coastline of over 150km and at its widest is 12 km. Like all the other Northern Italian lakes it is a deep glacial basin fed by rivers; Verzasca, Giona, and Cannobino flow into the lake. Its major outlet is the Ticino which, in turn, joins the river Po just south-east of Pavia.

Piedmont and Lombardy are two major regions surrounding the Lake but the most northerly section of Lake Maggiore extends a dozen kilometres into Switzerland, the lowest point above sea-level in Switzerland.

The climate as with all these protected lakes is mild in both summer and winter, producing lush vegetation, with beautifully planted gardens in wonderful villas growing rare and exotic plants. Well-known gardens include those of the Isola Madre, Isola Bella and the Isole di Brissago, that of the Villa Taranto in Verbania, and the Alpinia botanical garden above Stresa. These lakes are almost like a lost world. They also have their monsters apparently!

The Maccagno area

Maccagno also boasts a fantastic Sailing school with equipment hire and opportunities for windsurfing and kite surfing, making this holiday location truly versatile to your needs, be it relaxing or being active! Local amenities are provided in the historical centre with a supermarket, shops, cafes and bars. Luino is just a 3 minute’s drive away and boasts a picturesque lakefront lined with a beautiful marina and shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Transport links are also very good from the resort town with a train, bus and car and passenger ferry service.

The famous Lake Maggiore attractions can also be easily accessed from the north eastern shore and other day excursions include Lugano, Milan and the Swiss Ski Resort of San Bernardino.

The beautiful resort town of Maccagno enjoys a lovely lakefront position along the northerly eastern shore of Lake Maggiore and retains an ancient and noble history, once being known as a skilled craft and fishing village under the Mandelli Counts, before being granted freedom to become a free miniature state with its own mint for several centuries before the powerful Borromeo family took control.

Today its colourful past can be seen with the lower part of Maccagno noticeably more ancient then the modern upper part of the town, with medieval passageways, noble townhouses, an imperial watch tower and the sanctuary of ‘Madonna della Punta’.

Visitors can enjoy the many pizzerias and fine restaurants, its lakefront promenade which leads to a modern art museum, a forest, play area and beach. For swimmers the Lidos of nearby Locarno and Ascona are recommended. Carnival festivities also feature during the summer months and play up to the town’s famous culinary expertise with the famous ‘Rice and Sausage’ festival.
