This is the best area of this wonderful Mediterranean coast- the Kings summer palace is just down the road! Kabila Vista is next door to the Ritz Carlton hotel, between sophisticated Marina Smirr and the bustling fishing town of M'Diq. Reserved shaded parking space for flat.

The spacious A/C apartment is 8 minutes walk from the golden beaches and a few steps to the large swimming pool. The large bedroom has a superking double bed and a sofa bed, there is a bathroom, a shower room, separate kitchen, salon (can sleep two) and large terrace. We thought of it as a luxury place for two, but many families have found it ideal too!

Youngsters enjoy camel rides and a water-park and fun-fair just down the road, when they can be torn away from the swimming pool! There is a thalassotherapy spa close by, or traditional Moroccan massage and hammams in Tetouan. This is a great place for golfers and horse riders, scuba diving, jet ski, boating and bicyclng, all within a few miles.

The complex has 24- hour attendance at the gate, pools, tennis courts, playground, and a shop close to the apartment for fresh bread and basics. The other side of the road is the small attractive Kabilla Marina where you can eat at the excellent restaurant or just sip coffee and watch the boats - or turn left to the crystal clear sea and beaches that stretch for miles.

Make an expedition through the beautiful mountainside, see Chefchaouan, the blue mountain town 'prettiest in Morocco', or Tangier with its many layers of history and culture - you can find unspoilt villages and seaside cliffs and this is a paradise for birdwatchers in the spring and autumn migration times.

The white regional capital Tetouan is half an hour away: the medina there is like Marrakesh before the tourists: so unspoilt it is a World Heritage site. We can recommend an excellent guide who knows all the hidden corners and is a mine of fascinating history and information. If you want traditional crafts of leather or metal, colourful china or glowing carpets, this is a good place to buy, or watch them being made at the artisan museum. Wine, beer and spirits can be bought from the supermarket, or in many restaurants and hotel bars, by non-Muslims, it costs about the same as England.

Ceuta is half an hour in the other direction where you can enjoy duty free shopping, the huge marine park and ancient churches and castles and tapas bars, in a Spanish environment. You could easily take a day trip to Spain or Gibraltar(3/4 hrs by ferry or half hour by helicopter) and sample three different cultures in a day! However, Morocco is hard to leave, with friendly people beautiful countryside and a fascinating ancient culture to explore...

We are the first entrance of the first block of the complex - so quickest access to the sea. There is a numbered reserved parking space with shading beside the entrance. Down the corridor and you get to the door of the flat on the left.

There is a complimentary starter pack with water, tea etc, when you arrive. Walk into the attractive hall with traditional Moroccan lamp and table, then turn right into the salon. This has Moroccan style couches (can sleep two), a dining table and chairs, glass coffee table and TV on the wall with satelite TV and DVD machines taking English and Moroccan DVDs. There are books and board games provided. French windows (with electric shutters) lead to the wide terrace which has a table and chairs as well as comfortable loungers. On the left is the swimming pool, on the right glimpse the sea past the flowers in the garden. In the summer there are loungers beside the pool if you prefer to really close to the water.

Down the corridor, next to the salon is the spacious bedroom with superking size bed, couch (can open to become a bed), dressing table and bedside tables. One wall has mahogany fitted cupboards with generous storage space (and plenty of hangers!).

At the end of the corridor is the yellow and white bathroom, with bath+shower, bidet, basin and toilet, it overlooks the small courtyard (which is handy for drying clothes).

Next to this is the kitchen with everything needed for cooking and serving, high quality china, cutlery, all cooking utensils etc. There is a large fridge with a freezer section on top, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, oven, hob etc.

Lastly is the shower room, with a large built in shower, basin and toilet. There is air conditioning throughout, and a large boiler for plenty of hot water when needed. Towells are provided and clean linen weekly. Daily cleaning can be provided if required.

Further details outdoors

The apartment faces a circle of buildings, a few steps from the large pool with island in the centre. There are beds full of flowers, and sun loungers by the pool in summer. Tennis courts are nearby and there is a small shop for essentials.

Marjane, a huge supermarket, is a quarter of an hour away- you can get anything there, or else shop in market of the delightful small town of M'diq, just down the road. At M'diq is a is a fish market for the days catch, fresh vegetables and bread warm from the oven from little shops or street stalls There are also banks, pharmacy, and great little steet cafes where you can eat for a few pounds as well as more sophisticated restaurants

Further details

This is a ground floor flat but does have five steps from outside, it is suitable for people with restricted mobility but not designed for wheelchairs access. The shower in the shower room has a small step. Please ring me to discuss its suitablility, or if there is anything we can do to help.

Children are welcome, we can put up a wooden cot and provide a high chair on request. There is room in the hall for a buggy.

Smoking on the terrace only please!

The Tangier/Rif Mountains region

Tamuda Bay is a sweep of wide golden beaches from the Spanish enclave of Ceuta (Sebta) to Martil, lapped by the clear warm Mediterranean sea. Swimming is safe and little seashells in the sand are like flowers on a meadow. It is a wonderful place for children.

It is particularly popular with Moroccans in July and August: they escape escape from the heat down south, or come from their homes in Europe, Canada etc to their ideal summer holiday spot. Developments are below four stories, new apartments are well designed, excellent roads, there is never any building in the summer months. There are hotels, but this is an area where people prefer to rent an apartment with their families.

The King visits his summer palace just down the road from our apartment, and his family use the Royal Cabo Negro golf course. So the area is a very safe one and there is a corniche all along the seaside where families love to walk. Camel rides, conjurers, entertainers,a great water-park with slides and fun fair rides, water sports etc. entertain the summer visitors. Alcohol is available (in restaurants, hotels and supermarkets) to non muslims with no problems, but there is no 'bar culture' of rowdiness.

I first came here in Spring, when the mountains were covered with wild flowers and there are very few tourists about. Moroccans are friendly smiling people, interested in foreigners and happy to chat (French is the language they learn at school, being near Spain, Spanish is also spoken - fewer speak English). The sea is very clear and I have swum in April and October - though the sea is 'fresh' in those months!

There are excellent Arab courses available in Tetouan for those who wish to learn.

It is a great jumping off point for expeditions too - up through the beautiful mountains to blue town Chefchaoan 'the prettiest town in Morocco', or up the 'other' pillar of Hercules where the birds migrate from Africa to Europe. Tangier with its Medina and layers of fascinating history, or Assilah, the artist town. There are so many changes of scenery within a day's drive- and watching the shepherds minding the mountain sheep can make you feel you have gone back in time as well as a change in place.

Out of summer season, it is a sleepier place, perfect to enjoy the fascinating culture of Morocco, and the beautiful countryside.

There are many things to see and do near at hand too - though our apartment is the perfect place to relax on the terrace, bask by or swim in the pool, or amble to the beach and soak up the sun!

There is a great choice of restaurants- the nearest just over the road at Kabilla Marina has excellent Spanish and Moroccan food. In M'Diq you can eat skewered lamb or fish on the little street cafes for a very little money, or watch people taking their evening promenade from seaside restaurants. This is a brilliant area for fresh fish dishes (a lot cheaper than Spain). Marina Smir, down the road in the other direction has sophisticated cafes for delicoious icecreams or crepes, watching the yachts, as well as grand restaurants.

For the energetic, there are tennis courts on the complex, and the renowned 18 hole Royal Cabo Negro golf course is about twenty minutes away, as are excellent riding stables where beginners can have fun and experienced riders explore the countryside or canter the beaches on excellent and well cared for horses. Bicycles are availabe for hire, watersports are available at Marina Smirr and of course the wonderful clear warm Meditteranean is on your doorstep.

Youngsters enjoy camel rides and a water park/fun fair just down the road and their mums might like to spend a day being pampered at a thalassotherapy spa close by or have a traditional Moroccan massage and hammams in Tetouan.

"Wonderful place for a family break but let down slightly by poor agent."

A superb pool and local beach. The apartment is cosy and comfortable for family of four. The local supermarket is sparse but exceptionally friendly employees all around the site.… More

"Very relaxing break"

The place was very clean and comfortable. Everything needed was provided. The swimming pool was just outside the front door and the beach within 10 minutes' walk.
The people working around the complex were very friendly and helpful. Young children are safe around the pool as there is a full-time life guard. The couple looking after the apartment are helpful and always available to help.
