The Hampshire region

The New Forest is an area of outstanding natural beauty with horses, cows, donkeys, deer and pigs roaming freely.

The best way to explore the forest is by foot, cycling, or on horseback using the miles of traffic free tracks which pass through some of the most beautiful scenery in this country.

Lyndhurst

The New Forest offers a huge number of activities and attractions for all visitors to the area.

Lyndhurst is the 'capital' of the New Forest and within easy reach of all other new forest towns and the coastal areas.

Lyndhurst is a beautiful town with a traditional high street with plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs.

New Forest Ponies and Cows roam free in the nearby area called Bolton's Bench which is a beautiful open space.

"Great Lyndhurst Stay!"

We stayed for 5 nights as a group of 10 and had a really good break here. The house was spacious and everyone was comfortable. The location was good for everything but it was a bit tricky getting in and out of the busy one way system sometimes. The high street is under a 10 min walk and there are plenty of pubs and shops.

"Lovely house in lovely location!"

Stayed here for a week with our 2 young children (1&3) plus grand parents and great grand parents. Cottage was fantastic and have everything we needed and more, including a large toy box for the little ones. Others have mentioned the main road and although busy this caused us no problems. Biggest struggle was finding the cottage when we first arrived.

"great affordable get away location"

We went away for my mothers birthday and wanted somewhere cheap and comfortable for her and my brothers and my families. This included five children between 5 and 1, my 70+ mother and four adults. The house was excellent, plenty of room and we were very comfortable. We thought the price was very reasonable and exactly why we were after for a two night stay. The house is on the lydhurst ring road but this didn't cause us any problems at this time of the year. Also the house was on several levels and this caused some problems for our newly walking toddler. The wifi had jet to be installed but we were secretly glad to be away from it. If I had to be picky the central thermostat left some of the rooms feeling cold whilst others were warm but if we had had time to figure it out we could have adjusted the radiators to compensate. And there is just enough room to park three cars and no more. Many thanks to the owners who were also very flexible about check out times.

"A great stay for a family wedding"

We had a family wedding to attend, rather than book in to a hotel we found Spring Cottage and booked this. It is a very clean and well organised large family house. It served us all well for the few days we stayed over. I would highly recommend this house for a family gathering or holiday. Many thanks for a great stray.

"Great mini break"

An ideal base for the New Forest & surrounding area. The cottage was very spacious with everything we needed and was very clean. We didn't get to spend a great deal of time there as we were down for a family wedding.

"Fantastic holiday!"

We arrived a bit worn on the Saturday as the traffic into Lyndhurst was horrendous! 1 hour to do 4 miles! I presume it was because it was changeover day and it was a lovely hot, sunny day. But after all that, When we arrived we were very happy with our 'home' for the week! We were a party consisting of myself and hubby, our 4 yr old, our 2 teenage kids (boy & girl) and nanny! Nanny had the bedroom downstairs, and we all had a room to ourselves upstairs. The 2 grownup kids had a double room each, so no squabbles, our 4 yr old had the bunk room and we had the most wonderful master with ensuite. There was enough room for everyone to 'escape' when they wanted. Very comfortable place. Only slight drawback was the garden, it was small and kids couldn't play out there very well. But having said that, they took full advantage of the games table! The road took a little getting used to as we live in the middle of nowhere (we only get the odd tractor), so the noise was new to us, but we soon got used to it. Location wise, we couldn't have had better. The High Street was just around the corner. All in all a great holiday had by all. Totally recommend!

"Lovely cottage in a great location"

WE stayed at Spring Cottage with our two young children for a week. We were lucky to have fabulous weather - which meant we could spend lots of time on the nearby beaches. Spring cottage is in an extremely convenient location. Just a short walk away from the centre of Lyndhurst and a short drive away from all the New Forest attractions such as Peppa Pig world (!), the coast and all the lovely walks. The cottage itself is very roomy, bright, clean and has a great layout. It is equipped with everything you'd need - like a home from home. We had a fantastic time and we'd definitely go back.

"Well-appointed, modern house, with town centre convenience."

We were an extended family group of 11, including two children aged 3 and 8, and a baby of 8 months. The place was spick and span, and generally well-equipped: any omissions were minor and didn't really affect our stay. The house is in central Lyndhurst, and on a main road going through. However, the road impinged very little on our enjoyment of the property (although the weather meant we didn't spend any time in the garden space). The advantage of the location was that we never needed to use our cars: the centre (with shops and restaurants) is within easy walking distance, and we walked to a local pub for Sunday lunch. The children were safe from the main road. The house has separate living, dining and play rooms, which meant we could split up and avoid getting on each other's nerves. There is a lockable garage and a useful garden shed. We parked four cars (they advertise space for three). The bathroom provision worked well for us. There are steps down to the living room and dining room which would be awkward for wheelchair users. Everyone said the beds were very comfortable. It was an easy place to stay.

"Fantastic Stay at Spring Cottage!"

We have just got back from a week in Lyndhurst, staying at Spring Cottage. The house is only a five minute walk from the high street and you couldn’t ask for anything more in the house. Plenty of space and child friendly, our 20month old daughter also had a great time. If you have children we can certainly recommend Longdown Activity Farm which is a 10minute drive and within 10 minutes walk there is a great playground. Also lovely to see the ponies roaming free at Bolton’s bench. There are also plenty of nice tea house, cafes and pubs and La Pergola Italian restaurant was a great find. Would certainly recommend Lyndhurst and would go back to spring cottage.

"Fantastic Accomodation in a Great Location"

We spent four nights at Spring Cottage over the Easter Break. There were 10 of us altogether, 6 adults and 4 children (under 8 years of age). We had a brilliant time. On arrival the cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy and the heating had been turned on so it was lovely and cosy (which was surprising for such a spacious property). The fact that it is so spacious is also a plus point as we didn't feel that we were "on top of each other". The location of Spring Cottage was great - under 5 minutes to walk to the town and a great base for touring the area. Would recommend and will be booking a break there again!
