House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
St Pancras is the lovingly restored old church situated on the beautiful Rousdon Country Estate, near Lyme Regis set amidst 350 acres of parkland. A Grade ll listed building formally the church for the estate.
There are lovely amenity walks for the residents, including access to private beach.
The Church has been restored by the new owners to an exceptionally high standard and is situated in its own grounds overlooking the lake and parkland with glimpses of the sea beyond. The property is very old with wonderful features that have been preserved by Natural England, but please bear in mind that some of these quirky characteristics may make it unsuitable for some people e.g. one stone spiral staircase is narrow and quite steep.
St Pancras would appeal to those looking for something completely different, is full of gracious charm and atmosphere for a very comfortable and relaxing holiday.
Our local attractions include the home of the popular TV programme River Cottage @ http://www.rivercottage.net/
The famous Jurassic seaside resort of Lyme Regis is only 5 minutes drive away.

There are two staircases, one leading to the mezzanine, a double bedroom that has a spectacular reinforced glass balcony overlooking the ground floor.
The Kitchen has fully fitted oak units and is fully equipped with full-size fridge and freezer, dishwasher, microwave etc and the old “emu house”, (yes it did hold emus!) houses the washing machine, and is a useful “boot room” for muddy boots, coats etc after long walks in the grounds or fossil hunting on the beach!
The former Vestry, the double bedroom, is accessed via a stone spiral staircase – not suitable for Friar Tuck!!
The ground floor bedroom is light and airy with twin beds
|Further details outdoors|

In the front there is a private quiet lawned area overlooking the grounds and lake. There is a private beach within walking distance (not for the elderly, very young or infirm)
The West Country region
Dorset is characterised by breathtaking countryside, beautiful villages and small towns, sandy beaches and a world heritage status coastline. Due to its sprawling countryside the area is fantastic to discover by foot, bicycle or horseback and provides the backdrop to many golf courses.
it is a place to unwind offering attractions such as local craft and produce markets, country parks, museums and historical landmarks.
Rousdon Estate is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and most of the properties have access to a private beach (via a steep cliff path), the famous landslip, the Undercliffe and the World Heritage Coastline between Lyme Regis (Jurassic Coast), Seaton and Beer.
There are plenty of delightful eating places locally, either informal pubs or more special restaurants.
Lyme Regis has a theatre, cinema, is famous for fossil hunting, has sandy beaches and the area is ideal for walkers, country and bird lovers.
Sporting amenities include sea fishing, lakes for trout and course fishing, sailing, golf, bowls and games for children. Riding stables are available locally and we can even arrange livery for your own horse on our own farm. Boat storage is also available on our own farm nearby.

"Hidden gem - perfect place, perfectly presented"
I booked St. Pancras about 2 month in advance and was surprised to see it still available for christmas. The contact with Anne was really nice and the booking process was straight forward. Confirmation of payments included.
In the meantime I started to plan a proposal to my Girlfriend at the church. I decided to do it shortly after arriving. This proved to be a challenge as I had no chance to visit the place and set it up, but Anne offered to help out with no hesitation.
We drove up from Weymouth at dark and the route can be challenging if you go through Lyme Regis...which Anne's directions (kindly mailed in advance) told us about, but my SatNav still decided to put to the test. The roads are narrow on the mains and tiny off the mains. If you stay on the A35 it is not much of a problem.
Arriving on the Rousdon Estate is an Adventure on its own. The place is amazing and we found the church easily. Finding the way to the front was possible, but a little hand drawn map or a photo of the overview displayed near the entrance would be an added plus.
As we walked in, we could hardly believe our eyes. The place is beautiful from top to bottom. The fireplace was on, flowers arranged and Anne did a fabulous job to make the engagement as wonderful as it has been.
Everything is available in this place and if there would have been a problem Anne and Barry are a call away. Both kindly offer assistance, but leave you happily to get on with your holiday and enjoy it as much as possible.
We stayed for 6 nights including a dinner for 8 people. Christmas was amazing and everybody felt the spirit set in. The calm of the church did its job and the high sealing made it airy and open at the same time.
I believe this place is a hidden gem and worth every penny. Anne and Barry are doing a wonderful job to keep it in this great condition. Lots of features to discover and the surrounding area is great for long walks.
There is nothing to not like about this building and it does get really cosy and warm after the first 24h of wood in the stove.
As people said - the shower is an electric shower, which means it does provide a normal pressure, but no power shower. Absolutely sufficient in my view.
Thanks for the amazing time...I would visit again every time.
